What oil are you running? If I ran Castrol 5w50 full synthetic, my 9sx would drink a quart every 1500 miles or so. Switching back to a true 20w50 (castrol Syntec 20w50, its easy to find) and I consume 1/3 of a quart about every 2000 miles. The oil makes a huge difference, at least on my bike. |

How much oil over how many miles is the bike consuming? In general, higher engine speeds will typically lead to higher oil consumption. |

I checked my oil aprox 700 miles after doing an oil change and found it was 1/4 quart down. I checked it again aprox 200 miles later and had to add another 1/8th quart. I did do a few high rpm runs but i've never owned a motorcycle that consumed oil like this! |

Don't add oil unless the level drops down near the "add" or "low" mark on the dipstick. Be sure to check the oil immediately after hot engine shutdown with the bike on the sidestand and on flat and level ground. |
