There are a few people still swearing by the Dunlops, but most have switched to the Syncs now and love them. |

Mike, How are those Stratas treating you? I've been doing some research and are seeing that the Avon Storms (AV 55/56) get pretty decent reviews. The magazines gave the Michelin Pilot Roads good reviews, but nothing on the mileage. The Metz Z6 and the Pirelli Stradas look VERY similar as far as the tread pattern goes. Conti Road Attack are also highly regarded. In your research, what have you found? Sadly, what I'm seeing are that most magazines/websites don't report much on the mileage, just the grip, feel, and performance... Edit: Interestingly enough, I found a GREAT article about the Road Attacks. http://www.canyonchasers.net/reviews/accessories/road-attack.php (Message edited by Thumper74 on December 27, 2007) |

I don't think the articles rate milage because it varys so much. When I was looking up reviews of my last tires (BT021) most other bikes were getting 10k miles, my Buell killed them in just over half that. I love the Strada's. They're my favorite so far. I've heard great things about the Pilot Roads, but they're not supposed to last quite as long, so I haven't tried them yet. I have a set of conti road attacks on the way, but getting them from a friend of a friend that works for conti, it's been months so far, and I have no idea when I'll get them. They might be my next tire. Many people swear by the Conti sport attack front and the road attack rear combination. From my experiences, I highly recommend the Strada's. Great traction in hot, cold, and wet. I just hope the hold up well. |

How many miles are currently on those Stradas? |

Hrm... good question. I don't think I've got more than 1500 miles on them. They've done one track day, and one long weekend. Then it got cold and I hurt my thumb. We'll see what they look like next spring after 500 miles in a straight line, followed by 1000 miles on the razorblade roads of down south, and then 500 miles in a straigh line back home. I can't wait for March. |

I just bought a set of PM wheels for my M2L. ( thanks Al at American Sport Bike ) I know I can run a 180 on the rear, ( holy bovine, the rear 5.5" wheel looks like a car rim ) the question is which? I want good rain traction ( upstate NY, in the 2nd cloudiest city in America ) good cold traction, and primo cornering traction. Tire life is secondary, but I do NOT want race tires that need long warm up to stick. The Stock Dunlops are not so good in that dept. Also, I do cruise dirt roads from time to time, but spend far more time straight up on expressways at speed. Pirrelli Scorpion Syncs, or Strada's? Conti's? Opinions, links to reviews welcome. Thanks. http://motorcycletirereviews.com/tires.html (Message edited by aesquire on January 01, 2008) |

My heart is still with the Strada's. I've said it many times, great wet, dry, hot, and cold traction. |

Aesquire, if it makes you feel better, of five Buells I saw yesterday, three had Stradas and one had Metz M6s(VERY similar tread). I haven't heard a single negative thing about them. I was leaning towards the Conti Road Attacks, but the Strada's are only around $15 more a set, I'll go with them due to the glowing reviews. |

I have the Conti Road Attacks on my Ss. The grip has been excellent. After all the reviews that I read, the Road Attacks had the longest tread life with good grip. I mostly ride on the interstate, but with the canyon rides that I have done, they gripped right to the edge. |

Mike I have a little update for your tire mileage quest. A couple days after New Years I rode from Paso Robles CA to Las Vegas NV. It ended up just a hair under 600 miles. The syncs did great but they are a little flatter than when I left. Damn interstates. I think I have about 1500 miles on them so far. They are great handling tires. I will be sure to check back when they need replacing. |

I'm strongly leaning toward going to a set of full on touring tires. Metzler ME880 Marathons... I've seen consistant reports of 15K+ out of a rear. I even talked to a guy with a Valk and he claimed to have run 20K on an 880... I'll be happy if I get 9-10K out of it... |

Strada Update! These tires are great! They are flatter in the centers after the 1000+ miles of freeway last weekend, but they aren't bad at all! Tractions couldn't have been any better down there in the twistys. Even in the rain they held just fine. |

i just ordered a set of the new Dunlop Roadsmarts. I usually run the stickiest tire I can get but decided I would try to be more economical this summer with the price of food, gas, and well just about everything rising through the roof! I let you all know how they turn out. |

I just put on a strada on the rear of my uly. After going through tires every 2-3k I decided to look elsewhere for something a little more substantial in the mileage department. The first impression I got was good turn in, very smooth, and very hard. Also this tire felt like it did not need any scrub in at all. Won't be going back to corsa's or pilot's anytime soon. |

Even after 1500 miles to Badness, all over Gergia and West Virginia and back... the tires barely had a flat spot. I'm running beyond 5,000 miles as of this weekend. The front looks barely worn. The rear will be due, but I bet I have at least 1,000 miles out of the rear. |

My new commute has about 8 miles of twisties per day and has me exercising more than the center of the tires. I'm pushing 7,500 miles on the tires. Front looks almost new, the rear isn't terrible. I have ordered a new rear just in case... |

During my lunch break at work yesterday, I was admiring my XBR and noticed the cords on the rear tire showing. Just made an appointment for 1:30 today for a new Michelin Pilot Power. They quoted me $147 after tax and $35 mounting if they dont have trouble removing the wheel. I would remove the wheel myself but dont have the tools. I have the service manual but none of the tools to do the work. That sucks!! Update...Total price ended up being $191 total. Plus they threw in FREE dirty hand prints everywhere on the bike. Funny thing though, the guys in the shop argued over who was going to test drive it afterwards. They never been around Buells before. (Message edited by josnow on July 26, 2008) |

Bridgestone BT 021R 13300km and still not down to canvass but getting real close. Time for another one I think. A good gripping tyre as well. |

I'm trying the Maxxis Supermaxx tyres on the S3. My son just pulled a set off his 600RR with over 5000 miles on them. Looks like they would have gone another 2000 to 2500. He said they where pretty sticky. We will see how they live under an 88" powered bike. Joe |

I finally wore out the Bridgestone BT021 tires enough to warrant some new skins on the 'bolt. I put 7,000 miles on them and they probably could have gone another 500 miles more if needed. Good all around tire, real neutral handling, nothing unexpected. I did have the unusual front tire wear that others have commented on before, on how the hard center section does not wear as fast as the just off center shoulder does. Back on New Years day I was at the local Cycle Gear when they had their 25% off sale and I ordered two sets of Michelin Pilot Road 2 tires. The other set will go on the 1125R street rims after I get them powder coated. I have some track day Pilot Powers 2ct's on the 1125R right now so it will be interesting to compare the profile and handling differences between the Powers to the Road 2's when I change rims over. |

Bertman, Just put Pilot Road 2's on my '06 Uly last weekend, after the OEM 616's and 2 sets of Syncs, so will be interesting to compare notes in a few months. Got the PR2's to try and get some more mileage, even though I really liked the Syncs handling. Sync rears lasted me about 5k mi. |

Just went from P. Scorpions to M. Road Pilot 2's. I got 10,000 out of rear of the Scorpion, but I could see steel cords in rear and it would not hold air. Once down to wear bars tire went to cords almost immediatly. Last 4,500 miles of scorpions was not alot of fun riding. Bike just did feel as tight or as planted. We will see about the RP 2's. |

I love my Road Pilot 2's. The final days of my Sync's were not joy-able, and am much happier with the RP2's |

To resurrect an old tire thread...I seam to be a Michelin Man. I have run Pilot Roads 1,2,3,4 and have a 5 on the front of the Firebolt. I have run a couple set of Dunlop Q2's on the 1125R and absolutely loved the handling, but the mileage was just not there. Unfortunately I have to ride too many straight miles to get to the fun stuff. I will get a complete set of PR5's for the R and a rear for the 'bolt early next year.
