Ok Uly is warmed up and idleing after oil change and filter.I shut off engine and check oil level right away.It shows barely on the stick on level ground and on sidestand.Should I wait for a certain amount of time before checking. I figured there might be some oil in engine, but being drysump I thought this would be the best way to check it. Lets hear some input please. Thanks |

I have found that mine will not register properly unless the oil is up to temperature. Usually I have to do a 20 -30 minute ride until my fan kicks in indicating the Oil is at full temp. I will usually get a oil reading about 1/8 - 1/4" above the low mark with this method. If I check sooner the oil level will be below the low mark. I have never been able to get full reading by adding 2.5 qts per manual. So I just keep it right above the low fill mark. |

So do you check it right after you shut bike off? Thanks |

Any tips on how to drain a bit of oil if overfilled? |

Retribution, A turkey baster is the fastest and easiest way to remove excess oil. Another, slower, way is to take a tube and stick it in the oil as deep as possible, cover the end and lift it out. The bigger the tube the faster the removal. |

I use some big syringe tubes I got years ago for brake fluid, oil and any other fluids I need to remove. And you can push a tube onto them to get deeper stuff. Just label them. You don't want to mix fluids. And they don't drip out as much when you remove it. |
