Hey Pammy, I've got a friend who is trying to put an XB cylinder and XB heads on his wife's Blast. She is trying to set a speed record. He has some info about doing this, but I'm sure he would appreciate more. Do you have any thoughts? |

Well Honey, I don't have much wisdom to spare... What kind of speed record are they after? |

I don't know the details, but the current record for the class is 117 mph. She did her first run in Maxton a few weeks ago and had a really good time. That was with a stock drive train. Now they are tweeking things. |

Ah, Maxton. Excellent. I keep meaning to get up there. We do a bit of work for a few folks running Maxton. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but I would like to see the rules and restrictions for the class. |

Doesn't seem like a big deal Not for you. Probably not for them either. They are both very mechanically inclined. For me, if you gave me some cams from one bike and told me to put them in another, it would be a big deal. (Message edited by jlnance on May 05, 2007) |

First you need to know what class--Production,modified,etc. Then engine size upper limit, then check rulebook to see what is allowed. Might want to hit up Terry Parsley(Buelldynoguy) as his Blast has gone 130+. |

Good head work, top end work, cams and some blueprinting, should do the trick...of course gearing is important, as well. |

Thanks Pammy. Thats what he is planning on doing. It will have XB cams, cylinder and head. The trick of course is that that stuff doesn't just bolt on. He has already figured out he needs to cut a new timing slot on the cam. Have you any experience with this particular conversion? |

Is he trying to degree the cams? I am not clear on why he would cut a new timing slot in the cam. Maybe pressing the gear off and moving it? I am confused...nothing new there though. Ha Ha I am assuming that he is trying to move the power around. |

The slot is in different places on the Blast and XB Cams. He needs to cut a new slot so it will match up with the Blast slot. |

Its easier to weld up the window in the timing cup and cut a new one where you need it. |
