In this, the latest chapter in "As the Buell Turns" or, in this case, as it doesn't turn ;-} - 2000 M2 cases,, crank, conrods - CP pistons (10.5:1) - Millenium 1250 CYlinders - XB heads - Cometic gaskets (pn 160-050) Upon assembly of the engine, the piston contacts the head for approximately 10 degrees on either side of TDC -- contact point is on the left and right sides of the piston/heads, 90 degrees from the valve locations should I: install a second basse gasket? get thicker base gaskets? turn the entire project into a planter for magnolias? thanks, all, again, for your help == |

Shoot a note to Brian or wait for the Queen Of The Universe to chime in. "Oh Pammy where are you!!!" My bet is a thicker base gasket and possibly a thicker head gasket. I'm not sure if doubling a base gasket is a good solution for keeping leaks at bay long term.. |

Brad -- mirrors my thinkin -- I've shot the note you suggested (but the guy's been pretty non-responsive -- no complaints, I bought the kit used, and any time he spends answering my questions is off the clock., unless he asks for payment, which I'd glady give) I also dropped a line to Cometic I'm already SOOOOO far into karmic debt with her majesty . . . . .don't know HOW I'd ever get out ;-} |

Bomber, do yourself a favour and acquire Denish's V Twin tuning manuals. You can buy no better and they will help you understand a lot of the math and mechanics involved. They truly are invaluable, especially to someone in your situation. It's all in the learning sir!! Rocket |

Bomber, Give me a call tomorrow and we will see if we can get you figured out. Brian has been neck deep in simultaneous 5 axis CNC and has been offline for a good while. You said XB heads with a T-Storm 1250 kit? If this is the case then the heads have to have a 15 degree angle CNC'd into them. Scott 920-892-2109 |

Scott -- thanks! will do (didn't mean to badrap Brian, btw, hope it wasn't taken that way) perhaps different pistons are the way to go? all will be revealed in the fullness of time ;-} |

Oooh, I see what kind of trouble one can get into when one is left unattended... Ya ever hear that Ernie Ford song that says, "I owe my soul to the company store"? I hope you got it all taken care of, my friend. I have been off(in Georgia) playing Grammy to a perfect angel. Let me know if you need my assistance, but it sounds like you have it under firm control. |

There may be hope. Rumor is there may be a new Scotch fixin' to hit the market, "Glenviagra"; it's especially for old drinkers of Scotch who would like it straight up. |

I've just run into this problem with JE pistons 10.5 CR. Will the squish band address the issue or will the combustion chamber have to be altered? thanx |

You'll need to know the specifics of the piston geometry to figure that out. That'll take one of the experts chiming in. I'll see if I can round one up for ya. |

"pictures please...dimensions...anything?" Y'know in this thread, being it involves RT, and Bomber, and yours truly, but especially RT, you might oughta clarify that request. |

I called nrhs and shipped my heads to them. They are going to bail me out of this one. I gave them the part number of my pistons and the head type. |

To clarify... they are going to cut in the squish band and relieve the chamber for $150. |
