I sold an XB12Scg to a lady today and she LOVES it - she couldn't believe how much fun it is to ride compared to her '00 Sportster. (Duh)  Only problem is: she lost her left thumb at the first joint in an accident. She can work the turn signal switch alright...but it hurts and she's gotta stretch. It looks like the right switch housing has a blank plate on it where a slider could go...is it possible to move the turn signal slider from the left switch housing to the right switch housing? I know we'd have to cut open the wire loom, move the wires, re-loom the wires...that's no problem. Just curious (before I dive in with a set of hand tools) if there's stuff in there to take the slider and let it ...well, uh...slide. Anyone? | ||

OK, I started this thread in 2 places and can no longer find the other one, where a person stated they had done this. If you see this, please PM me or email racer-x@erols.com and let me know how you did it. We pulled the housings off the bike the other day and there's not enough room to simply transfer the switchgear from left to right...did you have to get a different switch from another application? | ||

Hey Rat, If you loosen the two halves of that left-side switchgear module (turn signal & lights), you'll see that the turn signal switch components are integrated into the whole unit. Moving turn switch to right side would be difficult. Here's some info: http://stores.ebay.com/PeakMoto-Online and search for "mini switch"... doubt there's room for it on RHS though. How about attaching a simple 3-position rocker switch onto that flat portion of the RHS switch pod? Wire directly to the L and R turn signal circuits, with center switch position as open circuit? | ||

Duh. Good call on the rocker. I'll hit Radio Crack at some point tomorrow and see what I can find. Since it fires a relay, I can't see I'll need a real high amp rating....basically just a contact closure for each side and an open in the middle. Thanks! |
