Just bought my first bike bike a month ago its a XB12r Firebolt. The problem is when i come up to a stop sign or slow down under thirty mph it seem to have a slight vibration in the front end when i apply the front brake. And it only does it every once in awhile. Help |

Are there any chatter marks on the disk? You should see smooth and continuous rub marks around the disk, with no variation in color or pattern.
If you can unload the front wheel and spin it, there should be a light drag from the pads with no be any side to side runout in the disk. No wobble in the front wheel on the axle either. If there is either fo those, you may have bad bearings or a warped disk.
If you don't have a lift or work stands, you can get a strong person to lift on the right bar a little and push to the rear with the bike on the side stand. With the weight on the rear wheel and sidestand, you can raise the front wheel high enough to unload it momentarily for a quick check. Having a third person on the bike will help with this and make it less risky.
Are you under warranty? If so, I'd probably have the dealer looking at this. If not, and you do your own work, I'd start with the axle/wheel bearing/brake disc check and a good thorough brake bleeding. An annual brake fluid change is not a bad idea.

Residue imparted by the stock pads can cause the pulsing you describe. If you disk/rotor surface has a mottled appearance, that is the likely cause. If so, try the Lyndal HH pads or the Nissen 804 pads. |
