Nothing, I put one on my 1998 S3, I did remove the inner fender, but that's all I could see that was different. ophawk |

If you use the X1 swing arm mount, that works, but if you use the S1 mount there is some grinding to do to the mount if memory serves. You will need to use the X1 axle, spacers and belt adjustment / tensioner assemblies too. Pay attention to the shock lengths as I believe there is some differences between the models / recalls / upgrade etc that will affect rear ride height if you get the combination wrong. Sorry if this is a little of the mark. It's been a long time. Search the archives, though where I know not. Rocket |

I just finished mine, was a bit tuff but got it done. I changed out the pivot block as well so no grinding was needed. The wheel spacer is the same size as the old one so ether should work. Now there was a small problem w/ the rear brake line, it is a bit short so a little re-routing will fix that. If you dont run the fender it is not a problem. I wish I had taken a few pics but I was in a hurry so I could ride it too Laguna Seca, I did'nt make it! |

There is one thing I left out and I myself almost forgot, The rear shock bolt needs to be about a 1/2 inch longer as the Aluminum swing arm is in it self wider/thicker at the mount. |

Im in the same situation, just got a X1 swingarm, looking to put it on my S1... but I want to powdercoat it first. How do you seperate the swingarm from the mounting block? Ive decided to leave the hugger/ fender off, but do I need the belt guard on the underside of the swingarm? Any help would be apreciated, i know this has been done several times. |

You need a service manual. Lucky for you, Buell provided a most excellent online copy for your bike, which we have available here on BadWeB. For future reference, you can find the link to that online manual here on BadWeB in the "Knowledge Vault - Manuals..." topic. |
