Any M2 riders have ideas/kits to chop an 2001 M2 tail? |

Not any real natural lines to cut on, could just free hand a new, smaller profile with kind of a soft, shallow "U" on the back. Some have gone with an earlier model M2 tail who wanted slimmer lines, those look real nice with the manta tank your bike has plus you can switch back to the wider seat if you find your seat getting wider (the bike can grow with you!). It's a direct swap with the older seat required too but very simple and creates a sleek profile. Or if you really want to go for it there are a few who've modified the subframe to accept the S1 tail, get the twin tail if you plan to carry a passenger... Of course it's a personal preference but I prefer to not cut up stock plastics but I'm not an artist either... |

Trojan Horse (UK) has a bad looking tail section for the M2, but it ain't cheap. Can't remember their website - you can google it. |

You can check out what I did to mine (Profile) nothing real radical, but I think it looks pretty clean. |

Don't know what kind of look you're after with a "chop", but have you checked out the "MANTA4 Buell M2 'Manta' tail section" at AirTech? There's a couple different tail pieces on this page: http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/buell/M2199702 .htm and scroll almost all the way down. |

"nothing real radical, but I think it looks pretty clean." It does look clean. I know two other people that did the same thing... I'm tempted to do it as well. It does 'lighten' the look, at least in profile. |

I saw this tail on a European site a while back. I can't remember the URL, but I can try to find it again. I thought it looked pretty hot, but from what I remember, it was on the pricey side. This one happens to be for an X1, but I think they had one for an M2 as well. Very similar looking, but without quite so much of the streetfighter looking rooster tail look.
And a closer look...
