Aaron, any experience with uses/advantages of cyrogenic treatment of engine parts? How about coatings/films? |

Yes to the first question, limited experience to the second, although Brian has more than me. I'm a big fan of cryo treating. My results surprised me they were so good. The old GT-1 Corvette had certain items in the drivetrain that it just loved to break. Cryo cut the failures way down. |

Jim; We have used Meta-Lax stress relieving method in our shop with excellent results. Off shore boat racing cranks that were breaking like tooth picks now have a reasonable life span. With the Meta-Lax system the harmonic frequancy of the part to be treated is measured and then vibration of a lower frequancy is induced. The frequancy of the treated part is remeasured to see if it has changed, if it has stress relief has occured. Internal engine coatings definatly work. We have been having our parts coated for about six years and three years ago started our own performance coating company to compliment our machine shop. Power is increased and part life is also extended. If you would like to discuss it further give me a call 586/294-4311. |
