Most all of us are familar with the Buell/Brag road atlas.
I,for one, will miss getting these. The future has arrived though.
Granted with a price tag of $35. It is somewhat pricey. The contents/package appear to be worth it. It is a Rand McNally product also. First thing you will notice is the ring binding. The pages actually lay flat. the next thing you will notice is the cover. A soft flexible cover that has a rubbery feel to it.
The atlas has several distinct sections to it. The first of which is the 31 pages of highlight rides. Each ride has its own map and points of interest along it. Some background information is also there. -Best season to ride: summer -Gasoline Availability: Adequate -About the Road: twists and curves.... -Insider Tip: Elevations change; pack and
The next section is the actual state maps. A couple of good things here for us. The maps are larger. With a downside to them; they are split across several pages. Another plus; city detail maps are with the respective state. Unlike the Buell/Brag atlas where they were towards the back.
Just like the Brag/Buell Atlas. This one has scenic routes highlighted. As well as the feature rides on a particular map. There are city-to-city mileage charts also. For our north of the border friends. Canada has a good representation also. Going south of the border....there is a small map of Mexico. The next section contains a cities index. Sixteen pages worth covering the states, canada and Mexico The last section is an eight page mileage directory. Roughly the same size as the Buell/BRAG atlas. Just three times thicker. Being as since this was a colaboration with HD. The shops are listed and pointed on their respective maps. |
