i see alot of people talking about using a catch can and making all kinds of systems. why doesn't any one use a exhaust pull ?? i have used them on drag cars and what not and they work good. the only think i can is maybe some small mods to the valve in the rocker cover. but if any one knows why don't these people use one?? i would rather just let it burn up in my exhaust than draining catch cans and cleaning up spills and pukes. hollar back Bigbadbuell |

The rocker covers are already drilled and tapped (1/2"-13 TPI) for the outlet fittings for the breathers. With the outlets both combined with a "Y" or "T" to one tube and the engine running there is a lightly positive pressure at the end of the tube. The pressure seems to be intermittent or pulsing when you feel it with your finger. Not sure if it is ever going negative but it is rising and falling. So if you hooked it to the exhaust, the pressure from exhaust would rise and fall too right? And I think it would turn into a constant positive pressure at engine speeds much above an idle and that would be trying to push back through the breathers, no? I don't think there is a constant state low pressure area to use except the inlet tract which is what created the problem to begin with. The inlet tract works but makes a mess of things. When I accidentally pinched off the outlet tubing on my home made gas filter/catch can system, after a run at sustained cruising speeds, quite a bit of oil had vented from vent tube up under the tail housing by the tail light. It had the wheel and everything back there pretty well oiled up and that same thing might happen if you tried to vent the breathers to a positive pressure source from the exhaust system. Jack |
