Pit Bull makes a really good set! They work great for doing all sorts of "do-it-yerself" kinds of things like this:
Make sure you order the "new front stand" with the #2 pin. Also, the rear stand is available in a standard and a wide version. Make sure you order the wide version. Al at American Sport Bike can help you out and has just what you need... Steve. (Message edited by 2k4xb12 on September 10, 2006) |

I'm going to try ordering from a local dealer, usually shipping is free locally. those must be some big boxes because shipping would be over $200 to hawaii that looks like some project you got going there |

Should be able to order locally. I bought mine from my local H-D/Buell dealer. Just be sure to keep in mind what I mentioned in my earlier post. The standard (old style) front picks up the front by the bottom of the fork tubes. They're a little cheaper, but as you can see, the new style picks the bike up from the bottom of the triple tree. This allows you to remove the forks if necessary. The rears are available as either standard or for spools. We don't have spools, nor can they easily be installed, so you need the regular rear, but you DO need to order the wide one. They're adjustable, but even with the standard rear adjusted to it's widest, it's doable, but a tight squeeze (about 1/4" too narrow if I recall). The wide is just right. The photos above were from when I did my 10K service... While I had the fork tubes off, I decided to rotate the engine down and pull the header to wrap it. Steve. |

Thanks for the tip on the stands, and the distributor, American Sport Bike. I checked into ordering them and found out that there is a big Buell Bash that they are sponsoring on October 14th a couple hours from my house! It is being held in BUELLton, CA. I really need to get that exhaust stud fixed now. I'm trying to find out if the "Jim's tool" works on an '03 XB9S. I need the stands because my bike looks rather precarious right now on a couple jackstands supporting a rod through the front axle and a jack under the engine. Your setup looks great! Just picked up a front/rear stand set from Lockhart-Phillips and I'm really happy with them.....especially since I got both for under #200.00!!!! The front stand came with a complete set of triple tree pins at no extra cost.Nice, powder coated finish. |

I got a pair from Discount Ramps on ebay. They cost me about $90 for front & rear. Be sure to choose the 6 front and the 12 rear, unless you have spindles. I had to mod my front one. One of the Buell front forks are longer than the other one. I ended up cutting a 1" piece out of the stand and welding it back together. |

One side has pinch bolts below the axle and the other side doesn't... |

I bought 'discount' stands and regret it. Front was not accommodating without a couple of simple tweaks and "safety" precautions: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/X6eRcg6zkK42c vZpmdlwWA?authkey=7xQe52Q_BHY |

to get the front tire off the ground, I simply park the bike next to my truck throw a rachet strap around the truck tire then around the triple two clicks later tire off ground. |
