An easy method to raise the front or rear wheel for simple wheel removal and maintenance. 1. Place a piece of 2x4 underneath the kickstand. The bike is more centered but won't fall over. 2. Place a standard auto hydraulic jack under the exhaust lift point (front of exhaust to lift front, rear to lift rear). 3. Secure the wheel not being raised - block. 4. Jack slowly to needed height. Notes: I've done this on my 2003 XB9R with race exhaust; This is very stable since there are three points touching the ground (tire, kickstand w/2x4, and jack); Make sure your jack is low enough to fit under the exhaust. I had to remove the swivel cup on my $15 Kmart jack to fit under the exhaust; You can only elevate one wheel at a time. This is for simple removal of the wheels or to perform simple maintenance. If that's all you need, you don't need a scissor jack or a motorcycle lift (Pit Bull or other). (Message edited by vtwinster on August 31, 2006) |

Great idea! Had to change the front tire and the drive belt and this worked like a charm. It also saved me $130 for a stand and the labor required for the install! |
