How do I adjust it on a '06 XB9SX? Mine came with a pretty large gap, I have to twist some 40° before it will start accelerating. I realize it's a rather simple adjustment, used to do it in secs on my late Gixxer... but the Buell is new to me and I want to go straight to the point there. Thanks. |

I've got a little issue with this too. I would just ask if there is a trick that the service manual doesn't mention to get all the play out of it. I loosened the two cables at the throttle in order to remove the cables from the butterfly when I did my intake seals. Afterwards, I tried to re-adjust the free-play out of them, but there seems to be a lot more than before. And, it seems like I've got both the adjustments cranked down as far as they will go. So, Whats the trick? Thanks... Nick |

The adjusters at the throttle/grip tighten the cables as you unscrew them. |

Sorry to change the topic a bit but I have a question about the throttle cables. I am new to Buells and have a stock Uly at 2000 miles. I have notice recently that the idle seems to float up intermittently. My first action was to tap and move the throttle cables thinking that the cable may be dragging or hung up. This does not seem to be the case but I am still suspicious. Temperature are getting lower (low 40s) so that is a likely contributing factor. I next noticed that if I am off throttle on a downgrade and pull in the clutch that the rpm does not drop to idle (stays above 2500). This may be normal as I don't think I ever tried this before. Given the cooler weather as a possible influence I am thinking that I have either a throttle cable issue or possible air leak in the intake manifold. Any other directions I should be considering. |
