I recently did the conversion from S to R tail section on my 03 XB9S. The removing of the S tail is fairly simple, just alot of marking to ensure everything that comes off goes back on correctly. The fitting of the R tail is another story. There is very little room to fit everything. I cut a slit in the underside plastic to allow for the S wiring harness to pass through in a straight as possible orientation. The ECM and Lean angle safety switch all reached nicely into the trunk portion of the R tail. I also had to cut slits in the trunk portion of the tail to allow for the ECM wires to come through. I am not completely satisfied with the position I had to put my fuse box in though. It is butted up to the battery and part of the frame due to the limited amount of space. I will be posting pics as soon as I get the chance. It took me 6 hrs on my own, probably would have taken less time if I had another set of eyes and some fresh ideas. My advice to anyone thinking of doing the S to R conversion is get a couple people to help. The bike looks great. |
