Does anyone know if there is a fork brace available for XB's? I know the forks probably don't need it, but I am looking for one anyway. There is a nice looking spot for one at the base of the forks. Jeff |

I've never seen one. Even the race teams are not finding a need for one. |

One concern with fork braces in general; if they are not perfectly machined, aligned and mounted, you run the risk of making the forks bind up. Most likely not critically, but it could be enough to have a negative effect on the front suspension action. Besides, a brace would have to clamp way up high on the upper tubes in order to not crush the front fender when the suspension was compressed - kinda defeating the purpose of the brace in the first place. That said - I don't remember ever coming across fork braces for upside-down forks. Henrik |

On USD forks, a larger axle with more stiffness is used as a brace. I think Banke used to make big axle kits for tubers. It could probably be adapted to the ZTL wheel. It really wouldn't have any 'wow' factor though. |

Jeffb, The front is really stiff enough with the 2005 and later XBs which run 43mm vs 41mm of earlier XB models. Inverted forks solved the flex issues that traditional telescopic forks suffered from. Too stiff a front end and the front loses compliance that allows the bike to track through bumpy corners well. |

Usually you only see fork braces on conventional forks only due to the nature of the front end. They can flex under hard turning or braking. An inverted fork set up will not need a brace, as it is a stiffer, more resilient front end. Not much flex, if any at all. |

I have seen braces for the USD forks. They are a "U" shaped piece that bolts to the brake mounts on either fork end. They just aren't that common because USD forks really don't benefit that much them, and out XBs don't have a good spot to mount to on the left side since there is no caliper mount on that side.
