Just got a new front tire in the mail. Looks like virtually no tread on the edges! I have a road attack on the rear and it looks about half gone so i thought I would up the ante on the front end and go with the softer tire for awhile. I hope they wear out about the same time. I will post an update after I scrub it in. |

Does the Sport Attack work as well as they say? |

Well I put 1400 miles on the sport attack front. A bit of twisties but not my usual high speed stuff as I was out of town. The tire sticks great with smooth as heck turn-in. the bike feels better with this front than anything else I have tried so far. /The rear is still the road attack and I thought the center would be bald by the time I got home but nope. Still has a fair bit of tread. I am very happy with this setup. I think I will buy one rear to two fronts and I like that. As well as these work and wear I will be sticking with them for awhile. they are also $200.00 a set. A great deal as they may also be the first tires I don't have to replace both at the same time. The rear is going to make 6,000 miles. The road attack front went about 4,000miles. I suspect the sport attack front will go 3,500 miles. That is a lot for me as I have been going through all the ususal tires at the rate of a new set every 2 months. Tire still looks like new. I ran a bunch of 85mph freeway in 105/7 degree heat and I thought it would have worn the center. Not at all. HAPPY CAMPER!!! |

Just to add data... I bought Road Attacks for my '06 Long because of claims of higher tire life. I mostly commute and tour and got 8,500 miles out of the stock 208s before the flattened rear was bad enough to make it really uneasy in the corners although not quite to the wear indicators. I was also noticing a huge loss of rear grip. The stock front seemed like it had little wear though. The new Road Attack rear seemed to have really deep tread (I've read the center has supposedly a harder compound on these?) when installed and the bike got reeeaallly stable. Here are pictures after 1000 miles, the rear is already flattening a bit and the bike is noticeably less stable than when they were new. The front is definitely showing wear already, too. I'll update again after more miles.

More info, I put a set on and I went to the track. They stuck like glue. When the tire is on the edge, they really grip. Maybe its because of the shape. I rode in the rain and they felt pretty good. No hydroplaning or sliding. So far I'm happy. I don't know how long they will last but they grip well and I'm willing to take the trade off. |
