I have an 02 M2 with 6k on it and it is starting to frustrate the %$#@ out of me! I have rerouted the breather lines down to a T and back to a K&N type filter in front of my battery. It pukes everywhere! I check my oil level as per BadWeb(after warmed up, on sidestand, running) Half way up the stick is my normal level. I check to see if I installed umbrella valves on high side of head (replaced rocker box gaskets 1k ago). Checked out OK. I commute 2x to work and back (about 150 mi, 4k+ rpm, 60-85mph, some stop and go) check my oil level when I get home and it is barely on the stick! Could it have all puked out? I check my primary just in case it blew the gasket between the crank, it's fine! Where has it gone? Last oil change I went with Mobil 1 20w50 v-twin and the bigger Dyna filter. I checked my exhaust for signs of oil and checked my plugs too! Nothing. My next step would be to go with the XB rocker box Mod, but am worried that it might not even help! Am I missing something here? Could all that oil be lost out my breather? It is a mess down there but it doesn't look like as much as I am losing capacity wise. Please HELP!!I am stumped! |

Maybe you should check your valve stem seals. Referring to NRHS http://www.nrhsperformance.com/partsvalvetrain.shtml: If you are a Harley-Davidson or Buell owner you probably have either experienced or heard of someone who’s experienced OEM or low quality valve guide seals. Ralph |

If it was the stem seals, wouldn't I notice a change in performance? The only thing I have noticed is when the bike gets too hot it knocks/pings and my idle fluxtuates a little. (Message edited by aceboy74 on July 06, 2006) |

YOu might check your oil pump function. If you are wet sumping the oil will collect in the crankcase. Oil in the combustion chamber can cause pinging as well. An erratic Idle can also occur but but both those symptoms could also be an air leak. Intake manifold or head. If ALL that oil were coming past your valve guide seals, then your exhaust would almost have to be dripping with oil. Easy enough to check. |

I always enjoy reading about stem seal research. |

I have an oil puke problem that's recently reared its ugly head. I have NO valve guide oil seals, as Pammy knows, and that is not nor is it a problem. The valve train works fine with no oil burning problems or related issues from having NO valve guide seals. Rocket |
