I'm going to bite the bullet and spring (sorry) for a Penske or Works Performance shock for my M2. Need opinions on why I should get one over the other. I like the idea of ride height adjustment on the Penske, but I'm kind of worried this racier shock may not have the durability for street miles. I've used WP shocks in the past and was entirely satisfied with quality and performance. Has anyone had a problem getting rebuild parts for any of these shocks? What say you? |

As Xldevil indicated (if I, as a non-native speaker understood correctly), you should think about alternatives... edited because of non-sponsor advertising, thanks for understanding. Xldevil, thank you again for your support. How was your test driving/riding? How did the shock behave? Are you still happy? (Message edited by glitch on June 15, 2006) |

My used M2 came with a Penske, it seems plenty rugged enough for the street, to me. But I thought the top-line Works Performance also had ride-height adjustment. I can't really perceive any reason to go with Penske over Works Performance (for the price difference.) I'm not a racer or even aggressive street rider. Works has a good reputation and has been in the shock business longer. Possible they may stay in the biz longer too... |

Haven't needed any rebuild parts for the Works shock on the X1W. Probably can't go wrong either way. |

Xldevil, Are you still happy? Yes Only 500 miles or so on the shock right now,(stator failure, late or night shift, bad weather and last but not least, the soccer world cup!) so I can't really say what the longtime situation is going to be... But, the shock is a vast improvement.I really slide over any kind of bad road surface.Even at higher speeds on the bad surfaces of our western german autobahn. With the Showa, sometimes,if not always,it was like riding a rodeo horse. When it comes to slanting position,I can lean out much more, the bike seems to ride on rails and I feel very save. I'm pretty sure it is the best single improvement one can do to the bike's handling. Ralph @ Dirk. Wie schaut es mit einer kostenlosen ersten Inpektion nach 2 Jahren aus, wenn ich hier so schön die Werbetrommel für Euch rühre? (Message edited by xldevil on June 22, 2006) |
