why is the oil pump gear different than the drive gear? most american V8 engines used a gear simular to the buell drive gear but both the driven and drive gears matched |

Since I posted that above, there have been a couple cases on XB's. The XB's seem better, but it's still an issue. At least up to 05... for the 06 models, they got a new gear (race part, now available to order) that seems to solve the problem. |

i have placed a new type gear into a friends XB12 who had the old model gear gone seriously bad after 8000 km's,the thing went to pieces when he was riding the bike! I have done all the modifications i used to do in my bike and that are listed here on the badweb.I made some more small changes to the gear also. We'l see after a,other 10.000 km's how the gear looks ,i will post the results here. |

Friends bike(XB12R)has done 10.000 km's with my modifications as explained above and with a beryliumbronze wheel on top of it....no damage at all to the pumpgears this time ! The mods works for the full 100 percent . We have put in the bronze wheel out of intrest, and it also holds well. |
