well the title says it all. im in the market for a new set of tires. what are you guys using? i usually just get the dunlop sportmax tires but after i started keeping track of mileage i noticed that im not getting the wear out of them and i dont like the way they wear and ride so much anyway. ive read through this thread and I am getting alot of different opinions from people. ive read every tire companies write up on their tires and they all say they are the best. i want something that wears well, rides well, handles the road well and lasts a little bette than 3400 miles. anyone swear by their tires? let me know why! thanks for any opinions or info you guys can provide! |

Pirelli Diablo's Great handling, reasonable mileage. I have 4 track days, and have 4500 km on them now. I'm going to guess they're good for possibly another 1000k as the rear is starting to square off. I don't think you'll find any tires that will give you more than about 3000-3500 miles. |

Tire wear is always so relative to a given riders, riding habits and road conditions in their area. So here's my data points OE Dunlops 2100 miles on the rear. Switched to Pilot Powers 3300 miles out of rear. Switched to Pilot Roads and currently I'm on my third rear and second front Pilot Roads Rears 7100 miles and 6500 miles. Front 12500 Miles I'm not looking for a better tire. |

Started with the Dunlops, wore out very fast <3K miles). Bad flats and falls in hard. Went to Diablo Corsa's. 3500-3800 miles rear, 1 front for each 2 rears. Excellent tire and a great feel. Cornering is excellent. Only scare, after the flats, threads pop up very quickly (NOTE!) Overall, the best tire I've had on my 2000 X1. The Metzeler Sportecs on the new 9R feel just as good as the Pirellis. Can't speak to mileage, yet. Finally on Pilot Roads attempting to give up some handling for some mileage. Here in South Florida, 3,500 miles is a quarter of a year, and this is getting expensive. Initial (about 1K miles) feeling is the Pilot Roads suck. Feel of the tire is horrible. |

Pirelli Scorpion Syncs strike a really nice balance between decent wear and good stick. They look cool as well, and are *really* light. |

I'm on my 4th set of Sportec M1s on my Firebolt after going through 2-3 sets on my Cyclone. I can average about 5k miles out a rear and they stick really well. I've enjoyed them, but my next set will either be M3s or pilot powers. |

I'm on the last legs of my first pair of Metzelers. I've tried Dunlops, Michelins & Avon. I'll stick with the Metzeler Sportec M1 in the future. Great price and even better performance. |

My Ducati ST3 came with Pilot Roads. I could hardly wait for the excuse to get rid of them. Very poor grip, to the point I was afraid to push it at all in the turns. Got a flat on the rear at 4000 miles, they had enough tread for 2000 more, but I switched to Pilot Powers. The initial 100 mile break-in was scarry as they act like the centers are peaked and the tires are greased til you get a little wear. Ok, I was running in 30-40 mph side wind that didn't help. But after that, they grip great, roll in and out of corners easy. |

I have been very happy with my Metzler MeZ4's, but I think you might have trouble finding them (pretty sure they don't make them anymore). The mileage has been very good so far. I have over 3k on them and they still look great with plenty of tread left. They have handled well on wet roads, but I don't push them until I know they are warmed up in any conditions...I'm a bit cautious that way. |

I'm happy with the Pilot Roads. Good all around performance, very good grip(actally tested in a german motorcycle magazin, out of 10 sport touring tires,on wet road surface, they won,) and great mileage.8000 km so far and still good for another 4000km. They feel sometimes a little bit hard, or "wooden",a little bit bumpie. Next time I will try the Road Attack. Ralph (Message edited by xldevil on June 13, 2006) |

Metzeler Z6. Far better than the Z4s (as much as I liked those) I put two track schools on them followed by 9000miles of all-season road use. Phenomenal tires in all conditions. (photo after second of the two track days) |

Alright, so I'm new here, but been riding a while...the best luck I have had so far (just passed 10,000 on my 04 XB12R) is an Avon sport-touring on the back with a Pirelli diablo corsa on the front. The ride is great and they end up wearing at about the same rate. I've been up to Deal's Gap a few times and have no chicken strip left on that Avon, and it grips all the way to the edge...just my $0.02 |
