I just bought a brand new set of Pirelli Diablos about 1 week ago... Got in one good ride... little over 100 miles or so. I got home, did my normal once over to check for loose bolts and whatnot, and noticed that I had picked up a staple in my rear tire. It is about 1/2 inch off the centerline, and yes, it punctured all the way through. My question: What are your thoughts on patching or plugging this tire and continuing to ride on it? |

my opinion.. . i'd never patch a bike tire, way too sketchy for me. i'd rather suck it up and throw on a new, intact, tire for the piece of mind when i'm doing 80MPH around a long sweeper. |

If the hole/holes are small I would plug it. I have rode several tires that were plugged. It depends on were the hole is on the tire too. Middle of the tire is probably OK. Near or in the side, and its not safe for sure. In the end, its your call since its your hide. |

I had a similiar instance with a set of new Michelins, I couldn't get the patch to seal good, and it had a small air seep. I ended up putting a tube in it. Some people said I shouldn't do it. I never had a problem with it, and left the tube in till I wore the tire out. |
