After agonizing on where to put the control module of my Scorpio i500 alarm on my XB12S, I finally decided on this location. (See Pic) There weren’t a whole lot of options, as the lack of space on this thing is ridiculous! Since I'm running an open air-box, I figured it's out of the way & all of the wiring is close & reaches exactly where it has to go. I had to dremel out a small hole on the rear of the box to route the wiring, but other than that, I thought it a pretty clean install. The "tank" cover even acts as a resonator, increasing the volume of the alarm. The unit is small enough & low profile enough that I don't believe it will affect airflow adversely. CC

That looks great. You definitely have me beat on install cleanliness. |

Please give us some feedback on your alarm. Quality, ease of installation, features. I've been wanting one for the S2, which is my sport touring bike. I always worry when I have to park it too far from where I'm sleeping. The paging feature would be nifty in that situation. Henrik |

I really can't say enough good things about these Scorpio i500 alarms. This one I actually had on my TL 1000 S for a couple years, but removed it before I sold that one & put it on the Buell. I have another on my Aprilia. It's a simple straight forward install (15 minutes!) The hardest part was figuring out where it would fit on the XB12S! four wires and they give you all the clip on terminals & plugs which are far superior to those you buy at Radio Shack. They also make them as direct plug-in units for your specific bike. The FM transmitter has a 2 mile range and both rings, vibrates and tells you what sort of violation has taken place. I strongly reccomend the Scorpio & they can be had on eBay, brand new for under $300. CC |

Cool, thanks Chris. $300 is really not a bad price at all. Henrik |

Ya the biggest thing about the SR-i500 is the 2-way with battery monitor. So if the battery gets a too low the remote/pager will let you know. I just receive my new one for my new 05 CityX. I have one on my other bike. I have a 3rd bike (98 S3T) with the Viper 200 and ended up paying about the same with installation, but the SR-i500 is a much better alarm. I ordered the complete package with prox sensor, starter kill and the built in battery backup. It's really small with the 2 off-board devices being about the size of a matchbook of 9volt battery. $330 plus shipping. |
