Hey guys, I have a question, I just bought a forcewinder intake from ebay and have a question about installing it, do I mount it directly to the carb? or to the little spacer that is there? |

Not directly to the carb. Make sure you use the bracket that bolts the carb to the breathers and then bolt the Forcewinder on. Ken |

Jon, Before you install that intake, please check its float bowl breather cavity/port to ensure that it is adequately sized. If yours looks like the one on the right shown below, you'll want to grind it out so that it looks more like the original model with the larger cast-in cavity. The smaller cavity causes terrible problems with the state of tune of the bike at certain speeds. See more in the Knowledge Vault article contributed by Aaron Wilson. It is the new style, so I will grind it like the old, thank you for your info and your help. |

If you take the STOCK "SNORKEL,air cleaner, internal PN 27547-96Y", plug the three holes and put on a K&N Tapered Oval Filter PN RC-3680 you will have the same thing at a much reduced PRICE($$$.$$) ... If you wish to continue to run the AIR BOX, it will fit inside which "i" call a "FORCE in a BOX" ... In BUELLing LaFayette |

I just bought a brand new Forcewinder Kit and the breather bolts are about 1/2" longer than the stock ones. When I screw the new ones in they don't snug to the carb bracket (1/4" away). Is this normal and should I just force them in further, or did I get the wrong breathers with the kit? |

I just went out and got a couple of 1/2" nuts and used them to tighten the brace to the heads and will hope that holds. I just can't believe they would package the wrong length breather bolts. I really am not happy about the whole "Force" product. I had to send back the original one I ordered as there were a ton of pit marks on it. I got the second one and it was just about as bad as the first. I decided it wasn't going to get any better so I kept that one, then the breather bolt issue... I was just very dissatisfied with the whole product especially when you spend $265.00 for a tiny little product like that. All the filters form K&N, the bolts and hoses cost less than $75.00 retail, leaving that little elbow to be manufactured for nearly $200. I don't think they are even worth $25.00 when you see their condition. |

Ben, More importantly, did you take not of the posts above concerning the float bowl breather issue? |

Yes I did that little trick, but my bike is a show bike, not a race bike. Its nice to have the increase of power, but since I'm not a tech person, nor a bike racer, I really can't tell that much of a difference. I just figure if your spending money to make something look good it ought to do just that... |

Wow, I just put on the Forcewinder intake I got offn eBay, and it is SUCH a relief to not have my knee hitting the carbon cover of the Race Kit air intake. (I'm 6'2".) Just came with the elbow and the filter, it didn't even come with mounting screws. Had to buy some at the hardware store. Other than that, it bolted right on. (Well, after I shortened an allen wrench on one leg, so I could reach the bolts. Does the Force factory kit include an allen wrench?) I'd already been running some breather bolts and rubber hose, T'd to a collector bottle, so I didn't want the Force breathers. Since I had the Race Kit I didn't expect any performance gain, I did this purely for knee clearance. But the bonus is, it seems to run a little better too. I only rode a bit, not detailed testing. After I switch mufflers, I plan to take it to the Dyno place (Vallejo Buell) but they want like $300 to do it, I don't have the money right now. Anyway, very nice setup, wish I'd done it sooner. |

I use a Forcewinder too, and I'm pretty satisfied. It is a bit pricey brand new, though (I got mine for $200 about 6 years ago). I tried the CF race filter, but it interfered with my knee so badly, I fractured it within an hour of putting it on. I'm glad I kept my old Forcewinder! XB rocker covers do away with breather bolt issues, but if you don't have them you can route the breather lines the way I did in my profile pic (this was before I updated the stock rocker covers). |
