I got some Crossroads bars for my XB for Christmas!!! YIPEEEE.

Now. Can anyone tell me the torque setting for the fork pinch bolts? (don't have a service manual yet).

Also, for those of you who may have installed these bars on your XB, do you really need to lower the forks to get the plate on?

I plan on following the directions to a T, but if someone was able to do it without lowering the forks, I wouldn't mind giving that a try.

Another thing; I don't have a bike lift. Any of you shade tree mechanics have a trick to jacking up the front end of the bike?

I was going to buy two huge eye bolts and run then up into the header of my garage door opening and use a tow strap to jack it up.

Any ideas, tricks, etc. would be GREATLY appreciated.

Russ

Well, it looks like I don't need the torque numbers.
I put the bars on without the need for dropping the forks.
In fact, I am not even sure why the directions say to do it. I had no problem at all getting the cables in the correct place and the plate on with the forks in their usual position. Oh well, +1 for ease!!
