The amsoil filter part number EAO15 is the same as Motorcraft FL1A, which is the larger filter to fit on the motor.

Just thought I'd pass the info along.

Just for your information: If too good a micron
filter it will cause your oil lite to come on !!!

that would be only if the flow rate was decreased.

What filter are you aware of that caused the oil lite to come on?

Ryker77:

Harley-Davidson had an error with the MICRON level filtration on their filters which caused
the oil lite to come on on SPORTSTER engines ...

There was a SERVICE BULLETIN on this !!!

from amsoil "The synthetic nanofibers in AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters allow maximum efficiency without restricting flow."

I guess I'll be the first to try it.

I don't know what this Amsoil filter costs or how hard they are to obtain, but I've been using Mobil 1 filters on everything I own - including the '97 S3 - for 3 to 4 years with excellent success. The Mobil 1 filter has a synthetic filter element, too, and is an exceptionally well built product. It's just under $10 at any Auto Zone.

If MOBIL 1 filters have too fine a micron filtering they will cause the oil lite to come on !!!

Have been running Motorcraft FORD FL-1A(Wal-Mart)
early on my 97S3T and have 85,316.4 miles as of the last ride ... In fact "i" even have a small(OEM) filter in the return line ...

I've got the Mobil 1 Fl1a model on my bike.. Just put a few miles on it and no light.

perhaps the larger size allows for more flow even??

The Amsoil filter is for fL1A so it would be larger and have more filter surface

The EAO15 a car filter. Would there be a difference in the valve inside the filter, the EAO!5 is not listed as a motorcycle specific part number.

Just bringing this to the top. I just recently bought a uly and use amsoil exclusively. The amsoil filter # for the xb series is the eao09, same filter for the sr20 nissan pickup, someone else mentioned this. The filter retails for $15.95, do not know if it is worth it or not. The amsoil ea filter is warrantied for 25000 mile intervals though. So multiple uses could be in store for it. I used a Pure one for my 1k service which is $5.99 and are known to be as good as the amsoil ea in filtering characteristics, re: bob is the oil guy.com. You would have to atleast use the amsoil for 3 uses to come up even moneywise with a pure one, don't know if it is worth doing that while in warranty status. Also the amsoil site is wrong when they list a wix filter for the buell, it is the same filter as the sportster which is larger.

I like the long Dyna filter from the HD dealer. It's the only reason I go there.
