Hi there! I live in Stockholm/Sweden/Europe and own a S1 White Lightning(frame no. YS11J9W3226177). As far as I know there are only about 20 of them in Sweden. Is it possible to find out how many S1 White Lightning's Buell produced in total? If yes, how many of these were sold to Europe? Were all White Lightning's painted pearl white at the factory or did they also come in other colors? On an UK site they are talking about a Lightning Strike as a black painted S1 with S1W specs. Where they UK specific? Thanx in advance |

What is the differences between the signature series S2's and the non-signature series? A signed timing cover? |

Didn't they do it for all of them? I have that stuff stuck away in a drawer somewhere. |

Aw, the perils of buying used--I've got the signed timing cover (on the bike) and the cute little box it came in, but nothing else. What am I missing out on? On the plus side, I've only got $5000 in the S2... r-t |

Any chance of getting the letter posted or attached in a larger more readable format for those of us less fortunate who didn't get the paperwork with their S2s? Thanks. |

Sure. I'll set it on the light table and do the tripod mounted, evidence quality thing with it this evening. Someone, and I'm not sure they acutally intended to be, was a visionary at the time. Court |

I am not. I think it was intended as a "marketing gimmick". In retrospect, the S-2 has assumed a much greater role, and much sooner, in Buell history than any of us were imagining in 1995. I was a nut then........."ah but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now" |

Were all of the S2s designated "signature series" or just certain vin #s? I'm curious - I can contact the original owner if so and see if he has the stuff tucked away in a drawer. any way to tell from the vin, etc.? |

If they all were I may have to do a title search and track my stuff down. I still expect to find the stuff for my bike one day sitting on a rummage sale table in someone's garage wadded up in an old lunch bag with a 25cent sticker pasted to it. Stranger things have happened. |

I have 2 '95 Thunderbolts for sale near me, both for around $5000.... I doubt my boss (read wife) will let me get another bike so soon after I just bought the Bandit. :^( |

2,147 S2's and S2T's were hand made, so all of those were designated/bestowed with the signature series documentation, therefore any S2 or S2T if complete in parts and documentation should have the signature series documentation to go along with it. Am I correct? |

I was told by Buell that they had stacks that were undelivered due to no regristration on file... These were not kept at East Troy but were at the HD site.... Might be worth a call to Chris Anderson at customer service..... |

Fellas : I purchased my S2T new in 1998 after it sat in our showroom for two years , there was no "signature series" stuff issued (to me) following my purchase. I was aware of the letter , timer plate etc. , I suppose I bought too late to be included. ....... not pissed off but wishing I had my "signature series stuff" , the S2 is a keeper. Hoser |

I checked when I got home last night and I have the original registration card still in the back of the owners manual - the former owner never sent it in. I guess I better get that filled out and sent in 7 years late :-) |

Jim_M, Some things I looked for and some things I missed when I got my S2: the recall matrix: http://www.sporttwin.com/recall.html the H/D/Buell dealer should be able to plug in the vin and tell you which ones were done. Jim_SB and I both noticed an oil leak from the case seam. Mine got resealed as part of the purchase, Jim's went away on its own. Probably caused be sitting idle? Things I missed: Updated front brake rotor - mine chatters at stoplights. Not dangerous, just annoying. when it's time for brakes I'll use the updated y2k rotor. Also if it has the Supertrapp cone slip-on there are reportedly problems with the bracket letting loose. No problems yet with mine but I'm keeping an eye on it. The http://www.motorcycle.com archives have a couple of good articles from their original test of the S2 - cheap power upgrades, long term report, etc. At the time of their second article they had 20K on the bike, basically abusing it, with no major mechanical problems. |

Ok....ok...sorry......been swamped with work, Team Elves etc.... There were ROUHGLY 2050 built. I am not taking time to sort out the R&D, development, testing, photo, media, DM and "lost" units...... 124 additional to CA.......makes the total something like 2175. Outta that first 2050 chunk there is included at 985 that went to Europe. . . well, left the USA. By the way...Patrick your's was built on March 27th and buzzed off toward Europe a couple days later drawn there, like so many, by love and passion. It's a great life........ Court |
