I believe the '05 has a larger diameter fork. So no, I don't think so.

It will fit. The fork sizes did change but not at the top. Reason I think this is that the Heli-Bar or the LSL Superbike top clamp both work on all of the XB models '03 XB9R's and my '05 XB12R.

Yes, I've got '05 43mm forks in my '03 XB9S triple top... as CaptJim says, top clamp diameter is same for '03-'05. Bottom clamp is the difference.
