Hello all, Has anyone found the solution too eliminate pinging in our Buells? I rejetted mine and put the Sporty needle in and drilled out my slider. I am running 92 octane gas and it still pings although not like it did before I fiddled with the carb. Any thing else I can do to this thing to get it too stop pinging? Also, I put a K&N filter in. Thanks Mike |

I have a 2000 M2 with similar mods to the carb and it does not ping unless the weather is very hot and I lug the engine. You should probably have the timing checked. |

Advance the timing just a smidge. |

Check the voes setting or have the dealer adjust it. |

Check intake manifold for air leak(s). |

Change to synthetic oil (if the pinging occurs while the engine is really hot). |

Yost master kit will cure the problem. Although that was so many mods ago, I can't remember exactly when the pinging stopped. I guarantee that the pinging stops while running 110 octane turbo blue...less vibration too. |

Yeah and the yost will nock down your MPG abot 10 miles. Trust me I used to be a big yost beliver till I put in a dyno jet kit the Dyno don't lie and neither does my gas bill |

Mike, For now I'd suggest you forget all the yost kit and dynojet hype. If your M2 is pinging it is telling you one of five things or combinations thereof. Either it is running too lean, the timing is too advanced, your fuel has inadequate octane, the combustion chamber(s) are contaminated with excessive carbon deposits, or you are lugging it too hard at too low of an engine speed. Simply diagnose and correct the actual problem instead of chasing the symptom(s) will be of much greater benefit to your engine in the long run. Check for intake leaks? Check timing? Check VOES operation? Try another brand of fuel? Running the 10R12 spark plugs? (NOT the old hotter 6R12 ones?) Inspect combustion chambers? Put it on a dyno with an oxygen sensor to determine your state of tune? |

Mike, listen to Blake! In my case it the original 6R12 plugs created the problem. I put the colder running Buell Performance Plugs in mine & the pinging went away immediately. The 10R12's work as well. The colder plugs worked so well that I can advance the timing & still no pinging. Dave |

Would you happen to have the stock ignition module part number for the 2002 cyclone M2 or know where I could find it. I have a after market unit N1306.01A3 and I think it's causing me problems, at 3000 Rpms the bike dies after a second or so I can start the bike up and it runs fine. |

"Re; engine dies: Check your sidestand switch." Better yet, short across that puppy and the rest of the pansey starter interlock nonesense to remove a dozen variables from the equation. Just remember not to ride with the sidestand down or start the bike in gear without pulling in the clutch. |
