Okay, new problem or unresolved old problem. I picked up my 2000 X1 2 months ago, the bike had an aftermarket header(kooks) and wide open muffler, no intake mods, and stock ECM. The prob with the bike... it was bogging under hard acceleration. I popped in a diagnostioc plug and it shot back code #13... o2 sensor. I replaced the sensor and spark plugs(black=rich), the prob seemed to be eliminated. Since then I've replaced the stock ECM with the race ECM and race air cleaner to match it up with he exhaust.

Apparently that old prob has resurfaced. I reset my TPS with the VDSTS from American Sport Bike and checked my plugs again(clean). The bike seems to bog when I ckrack the throttle open from 3K rpm, I can drop a gear or two and get good acceleration from 3K rpm but nada in 5th.

I've checked for leaks in the intake by spraying wd40 on the manifold but it dosent affect the idle. I did reinsert the diagnostic plug back up to the bike to see if I would get a new trouble code and it shot a very quick single code of more than 10 flashes???

What's wrong with my bike now?

"What's wrong with my bike now?" you have a fancy fuel injection system that the factory designed to work with factory parts.

Could be dirty fuel filter. Could try hotter plugs.

"Race ECM"... It should run fine. If he has a "fancy fuel injection system designed to work with factory parts", a Buell Race ECM is what he needs and is what he has. Hotter plugs on a FI tuber?!? That's almost a never. : (

Explore the codes more and do some BadWeb homework. Do a search in the KV for "bogging" and see what you get. Check your FI butterfly operation. Mine bogged when I snapped the butterfly shaft... some early 2000s may have had this problem too. Run out of fuel lately?

you know, the badweb search function is a little disheartening to navigate.

No I havent run out of fuel lately, 200 miles to the tank... that made it the reason i picked this thing up, remembering my experiences from the first X1 i had and not getting another superhawk.

Well, funny thing happened. when I was tinkering with the bike Sat morning I was reseting the TPS again because of the bogging and the (cold)flat spot in the throttle when leaving stop signs (scary)almost dropped the bike 3 times because of it. Anyway, I was feeling adventurous and hit the reset AFV option. when that happen the running ability of the bike turned to crap and would'nt idle no matter which way I turned the throttle/idle screw.

Fed up, I disconected the batery, put the stock ECM back in and reset the TPS. The bike ran perfectly this weekend for a trip down to Pismo Beach... WTF?

Damn...almost points to a bad race ECM? The AFV was what I was the path I was going down when I asked about it running out of fuel. DAve

Don't know if anyone is still reading this thread, but has anyone discussed the Mass Air Sensor location when you mod the airbox and the impact on reacting to opening the throttle (may cause the bogging)

When I originally took the helmoltz box apart and removed the tube, I mounted the mass air sensor right next to the intake venturi, but when it was in the tube, it had a direct shot of air going across it in a fairly confined space.

I now have a billet aluminum air cleaner assy and the mounting hole is along the side of the intake, about 2" away. Since the filter surrounds the entire assy, I get more air in, but is the sensor detecting that increase in velocity?

I guess first I need to know if the mass air sensor actually senses velocity
