I ditched my dunlops within the first few weeks, and nevel looked back.

been runnin m1's for about 18 months before I switched to Z6's. I went thru 4 sets of m1's in 10000 miles. I always replace both tires.

My new tires are z6's and I have no complaints... so far so good, over 5000 miles and lots of tread left

I love my Michelin Pilot Powers!!!

I had run two sets of stock Dunlops before switching to the Michelins, I'll never go back!!
My Pilot Powers have well over 3000 miles on them and still look NEW, no joke! I installed them before a 1700 rode trip and was immediately impressed with their road manners. I've also run BattleTrax and track days on them, they are wearing like iron and stick like glue!! At the track day the recommended tire pressure for that tire is 31 in the front, 26 in the rear, they were abused all day and still look great!! I won't be surprised if I get 5500 - 6000 miles out of them which is unheard of from the stock Dunlops used the way I ride.

I like the Scorpion Syncs. They have excellent wet and dry grip and the bike turns in really easy.

Anyone have a recommendation on a knobby style dual sport tire 50% street, 50% off-road that will fit the Ulysses 120/70R17 front, 180/55R17 rear. The stock tires do not work well in river bottom silt but are great on street, hard bladed dirt, somewhat loose on the marbles (rocks) but poor in silt and soft sand.

I have the Diablos and love them. I'm going to buy a new set soon and am thinking of getting the standard Diablo rear and the Diablo Corsa front. Has anyone ever done that and do you have any thoughts?

no knobbies available in 17 inch radial sizes. scorpion sync works quite well in wet sloppy mud and high speed gravel powerslides. all good.

Thought that I should start contributing. Below are my tire results for my '98 & '97 S3s:
Dunlop Original Rear - 4,877Mi
ContiForce Rear - 3,092Mi, 6,063Mi
Bridgestone BTX20 Rear - 7,952Mi, 5,265Mi, 6,410Mi
Dunlop SprtMax D220 Rear - 3,061Mi

Bridgestone BTX20 Front - 6,613Mi, 5,880Mi, 10,100Mi

I presently have Continental Road Attack's on the front and rear. Rear is less than half used, and I expect to get over 8,000Mi on it. (Presently have 4,229Mi on the rear & 3,600Mi on the front.)

OK, I think we might need to establish what everyone is considering a used up tire? I change my tires out when they get down to the warning bars, never further, is it safe to assume everyone here is the same?

I have seen tires on peoples bikes that made me afraid for them. If you talk to the people, they think they are needing replacing, but still well within acceptable
