Can anyone confirm this part number on my ECM. I put it in my 2005 city-x, but I can't reference it anywhere (doesn't match the part number on the buell website). Is there a dealer on the board that can find out which ECM this is for me? 32801-02YA Thanks, Stephen |

Not sure if it is a race ecm or not, that isn't a valid part number for the HD system. I have heard of the number before and I think it is an internal number Buell uses. I do not think it is the right ecm for your bike. The correct ecm for a City X is 82007-05Y and it is different in some way than the other, older 9 ecms which is what I think you have. Where did you get it? |

Thanks Dave. It came with a race kit I ordered (from a local dealer) about two months ago. Obviously the pipe was correct, as was the (k&n) filter. So I never thought to check the number on the ECM. Strangely enough, the VDSTS kit I bought from you won't connect to my ECM, so I checked the ECM part number and couldn't find it referenced anywhere. Very weird. Let me talk to the dealer I got it from. If they are as helpful as they usually are, then I guess I'll have to buy the correct one from you. Do you have any in stock? Thanks, Stephen |

Yes I do. What was the part number on the full race kit? If it was 82003-02Yb it is for an 03 or 04 XB9 If it is a 82006-05Y it is for your bike Hope this helps |

Same here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/130746.html?1122836067#POST 487601 Bought race ecm for 03 9R. Box and instruction sheet say: 32814-02YA, but # on ecm says 32801-02YA on it. I installed it and had tps re-set. My bike runs fine with it , but I felt NO increase in power. I repeat there is NO NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE whatsoever between my original stock ecm and the ecm # 32801-02YA which is supposed to be a race ecm. P.S. The 32801-02YA ecm also does not say "for race use only" on it like every other race ecm I've ever seen. Please let me know what you find out about that ecm, because I suspect that these are NOT race ecm's! |

There should be a calibration number printed on a sticker on top of the unit. You can call customer service or PM me with the number, and I'll check to make sure it is a race ecm calibration. |

My part that DaveS sent says.. KIT, XB9 RACE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (06/26/05) XB9 03 & later XB models. Box says - 32814-02YA Part says - 32801-02YA 04294 also says - BX9PA21GB231 "FOR RACE USE ONLY" printed on module. I'm sure this is correct.. But if anyone can also shed light on the subject of RACE ECM's v Stock ECM's. |

I have a similiar story. I don't remember the part numbers, but when I got the race ecm the box said one number and the ECM said another. It was off like two digits like the ones listed above by Saintly and Odin. I figured it had to be correct. It was the race ecm for the 05 City X. Anybody else??? Like Saintly said, the bike runs fine, but I didn't feel any real increase in power. Most of the popping on decel went away though, so I know it was adding more fuel to the mixture. |

I thought that it was a LAW that they had to stamp "for race use only" on it. Mine does. Is it a company policy or a law? |

I just got a new ECM for my 2005 XB9: part #82007-05Y. It is stamped with "Race Use Only." I'm installing it tonight and replacing my old 'race ecm' 32801-02YA (no warning). If I can get it to work and reset the TPS properly I'll report back on whether there is a difference. If not, I'll have an extra race ecm for sale! By the way, anyone in the NY/NJ/PA area should make the trip to Edison Harley/Buell dealer. I just made my first trip there and they actually understand Buells, and I got the best service I've ever had at a motorcycle dealer. Really cool guys, took the time to chit-chat, and let me hang out in the service area while we talked. Of the 5 service stands they have, 2 had buell XB's on them! Good stuff ... |

I have the XB9SX race ECM, #82007-05Y with a race exhaust and filter. On low RPM, I can't feel any difference. But I notice a good difference on high RPM. The #32814-02YA ECM is for '03 - '04 XB9 model. |

Briz, you discovered how much we get ripped off buying HD-Buell parts locally instead of going straight to the States? Even with GST and import duty and freight it's still considerably cheaper to get parts sent from the States than to go to the local dealer, sad but true. Plus if it's under $200 then no import or GST duties. Ring up customs for more expensive items, they are very helpful. I can back up my claims if anyone is interested. |

To follow up and hopefully put this post to rest ... Judging from E.B.'s comments on the chat yesterday, the EFI has been tweaked and is modestly different on the 2005-06 models than the 2003-04 models. Even though I bought the race kit for by XB9SX a few months ago, I believe the ECM that came with it (32801-02YA) is mapped for 2003-2004. It ran ok, especially at higher RPM, but left me feeling lackluster about the bike (even compared to stock), at low RPMs. Putting the drummer on definitely helped at lower RPM, but it still didn't feel as punchy as I had hoped. Last night I put in the 2005 race XB9 ECM (82007-05Y) and there is an noticable difference, at all throttle positions, with particularly smooth/even pull through the entire powerband. I did notice that the calibration numbers on the two ECMs are quite similar, but not exactly the same. Funny enough, I didn't even have to reset the TPS between the two race ECMs (obviously I did it when I switched from stock). I just plugged it in and it runs/idles/accelerates smooth all the way through the power band. Put it in neutral and the revs drop immediately to 1050rpm, with no hanging around at 2,000rpm like it used to. Word of warning: be sure you get the proper ECM for your year bike. Some dealers don't seem to know that there's a difference between 2003-04 and 2005-06 EFI. Also, if someone needs a 2003-04 race-calibrated ECM (32801-02YA - but doesn't have "race use only" stamp) that is barely used, I'm selling mine for $100 (send a PM - don't post here please). |

Monorad, Did the ECM that you put on your bike have the same number on the box as the ECM (82007-05y)? I was just curious because my box had that number, but a slightly different number on the ECM. I can't remember what it was and can't tell now because it is on the bike and can't read it. |

Yeah the ECM number was off by one compared to the box. I think the ECM was 82008-05y, but the box was 82007-05y (can't remember and at work right now, but it was definitely off by one digit). |

what do you mean by "reflash it to a race ecm"? it is my understanding that this can not be done. where did you obtain information to the contrary? no disrespect intended, am very curious about this. thanks, dean |
