I disassembled the tank today on my 600 mile 1999 X1 and discovered why the fuel pump failed. The filter screen on the fuel pump disintegrated and the fuel pump probably ingested all the bits. Have you ever heard of this before? Obviously this bike spent a lot of time in storage and the previous owner used Stabil in the gas. Any good methods of washing out the tank? Thanks.
