hi everybody,

i own a 98 S3 that has around 700 miles on it. i mounted a V&H muffler, SE Aircleaner (from a harley), and installed a V&H jet kit(i think it is manufactored by dynojet) on it. It uses a 45 slow jet, and i installed the 180 main jet (the kit comes with jets from 175-180). i bought more main jets that range up to 195, but the bike never runs well. it pulls nice over 5500 rpm but doesn't rev up well below that rpm.
further, after driving for a while a little gas drips out of my air cleaner. when i take the cleaner off, so that i can look at my carb(while the bike is running), and turn the throttle, it shoots a little bit of gas out of the carb for a second.
i tried to adjust the fuel mixture screw between 2 1/2- 3 1/2 without much of a change.

my spark plugs are dark black at the thread and and a little white at the electrode(where the spark jumps over).

my biggest problem is that when the bike idles well, and when i open the throttle all the way the bike studders and then revs up fast, but it doesn't back fire.

do you guys have any answer for my problem. i'm going crazy because i already changed the jetting so often and never got it right.

thanks a lot

May need to adjust the needle. Put it on a Dyno. It'll be $40 minimum but may save countless hours of frustration.

If it runs good cold then stumbles when hot go leaner. If it runs crap cold then gets better when it's hot go richer. Repeat until good.
