What are the benefits and drawbacks of moving a crank fore/aft or up/down in the cases? |

The first question would be: why? Forward or backward might unbalance the V, Up or down and you'd better be checking your throw clearances very well. You'll basically be re-engineering the engine. Could be fun, just ask S&S. |

Yeah, I figure forward/backward would be a bad idea on a V-anything but figured I'd ask. What about up/down? My assumption is that you would want con-rods as short as possible w/o causing too much side loading which would kill your ability to use slipper pistons. I suppose that making sure that your side loading ratio is well above 1.7:1 would be more important than short con-rods though... |
