Before the YoDude hinge kit, what I had in my pocket was my tool kit. Now I can carry almost as much as gear as Rocket does, in my bag under the Fly Trap: (nobobody but nobody..carries as much gear as Blake) Leatherman, pouch with registration papers, (waterproof) a credit card flashlight from Qwest, windhield wiper for glove finger and assorted tools. Fits out of sight neatly. My other post showing emergency items are on person carry. :  | ||

I got my 2001M2 back from the service department with the replacement shifter on it today. It's 100% better than the original. Replaced free under the warrenty since there was a service bulletin out on it. Much better leverage on the upshifts, much better point of contact with boot/foot. Called the shop when I got home to advise "me likey" and thanks. Now if the rain would stop and some of those muddy leaf-covered roads would clear up for a day, I'd finish the break-in. Of course, this is Oregon, so the next dry day may be in May. Thanks again Tripper for the info. | ||

No stock of parts for Buell, Special order only. Bummer. Oh yea..I got hammered hard in the rain tonight going home from a ride even my underwear wet..only thing dry on the bike is the inside of the youdude bag. R_T: Tom ! Hey guys, Lemme tell you that the YoDude hinged rig for the flyscreen is all that! I installed one at the start of the summer on my Y2K M2 and have an nylon REI bag (similar to Don's in the picture above). The set up has held in place during track days and on the road. No extra vibration or threatening to open at the wrong time. I may have a bit more space than you Dan. Because while I also have a 2000 M2, I added a tach (following the directions and parts listed elsewhere on BWB - which, BTW, is the cheapest way to add a tach to any M2) using the 2001 dash. The 2001 M2 dash rides a little higher than the original. I may have an extra inch or so. Re shifting: does anyone know what the hot setup is for adding or replacing thrust washers on the stock shifter linkage on my '98 S1W? After reading all the bad posts here and elsewhere re/ sloppy shifting, I was going to spring for the Banke set, but that was before I got used to actually using mine...it actually shifts just fine, thanks, compared to my BMW and to my old, late-lamented Norton...to paraphrase Mr Clinton's words, " I can't understand what all the fuss is about...". But for the side-to-side slop, (which is totally b.s.to me), she shifts perfectly well...all I want to do at this point is simply tighten up the linkage a bit with a suitable thrust washer, and lose the play at the lever/footpeg intersection. If I can do this, I will, and would then spend the several hundred dollars saved on the Banke setup for something else, I think...like a set of those trick Crossroads 'bars, and suitable mirrors... How 'bout it? Something in bronze do the trick??? | ||

You could aslo go to the 99 up redesigned shifter. Less throw, 100% better than the 98 stock setup and nearly 50% equal to Banke, but 1/3 the price. | ||

Jose, I bought 2000 M2 controls. The connecters mated right up. There is new style throttle twist grip so you need to buy new throttle cables. I will send you a complete BOM upon my return from the Oldsmobile dealership. Picking up a new van for the wife today, thus removing objections for me getting new Firebolt in spring. Dave: Thanks for the info. I'm going to change the look of the bike a bit. I plant to make the tank the highest point and eliminate the flyscreen. When the parts book of the Firebolt arrives I'm going to get the upper tree/bars assembly. I want to get the new controls for it when available at a suitable ebay sale. Would like to get the gauge cluster also but I'll need to drill the right case for the speedo sensor. In the meantime I might be able to move the stock cluster down somehow. The other item I like is the oil cooler but I already have a Jagg. Today while attempting to install a german chin fairing I discovered the front muffler bracket broken and one of the rear can supports missing. Likely the reason why the front bracket failed. Rocked the graphite gaskets pretty good at the ports. Hopefully the studs won't break any time soon. Double Dog Doo!!! It is X-mas and I have a few days off and was plannig a ride to SC. Crap... Well who are the experienced Corbin seat Buelligans? I was able to purchase an almost new Corbin seat for my X-3 (Thank You David R.) and would like to know any helpful hints on breaking it in and maintaining it, like cleaning and leather care. So give some info on your experiences. It's off to the garage to instal it now. TIA Neil S. | ||

Neil.... I have several miles on mine. I would suggest planting each cheek on it with plenty of weight above(you should be able to do that) and ride,ride,ride.  . I have used a small amount of prime neatsfoot oil on mine twice in 50,000 miles. | ||

First impressions for me were that the seat was just as uncomfortable as the OEM one ('97 M2). However, I have found that I need to sit about 2" further back to be comfy on the new seat. And John, just what do you mean by that!!!!!!!  I kinda figured that some saddle time in warm weather would get it molded to my butt contours even with my limited mass, well limited might be stretching the facts. The contour of the Corbin on the X-1 tail is not as svelt as the OEM but it feels better! Should also be better for the passenger, if I ever have one (btw: I got the backrest too.). Well I think it will hold up better than the Buell P&A seat since it wore through at the front in less than one season (must be the pucker factor). I'll just have it repaired and post it for sale. Neil, Maybe Blake should do some computations on the amount of pressure required on each cheek, coupled with the riding time factor. Skinny guys may require twice as much time as fellows with, shall we say, more substance. At any rate, let the cheeks fall where they may. On a more serious note, My Corbin is just now starting to show some sign of wear on the right side where my leg goes over the edge. The black is wearing through and the gray is starting to peek out. I plan on getting the newer version for the S3 before spring anyway. I think it should be more comfortable. I had a chance to sit on one, and the added front section seems to keep you back in the pocket better than the old style. | ||

Hey Guys, we need your anaylitical help with this most perplexing quandray, it should be right in with contact patch and my "Red Tailed" Hawk encounter. What is the ratio of the mass of a Buelligans Butt, to the ride time required to break in a Corbin seat? Something like, as the Butt mass increases the breakin time decreases with a factor in there for the temperature and and miles ridden. a.k.a.: The change in Butt comfort wrt mass, miles, temp, and the phase of the "moon" . I know there is a differential equation that best describes this relationship butt, I just can put my finger on it.  Help! This is most important since I don't want to start any long trips before my seats broken in. TIA Neil S. | ||
