Activity in the NC section? Must be the warm weather I'm always up for a trip to Michael's on a Sunday. Just let me know and I'll be there. Mike L. '04 XB12R |

Any one paying attention to the weather. Is it supposed to get cold this weekend? If not let's get together this Sunday! Don't exactly know where Michaels is, but I'll be coming up 15-501 from Pittsboro. Any one else interested? |

John, I'm 25 miles south of Hickory in the middle of rural heaven. The twisties start at the end of my driveway and end,,,well, they just don't end around here. We, my son and I, usually come across on 10 and head north from Morganton. Up to the BRP and then start working our way towards Cherokee/The Gap. There are at least 3 Pumpkin Centers in North Carolina and mine is in Lincoln County. If I'm not working I'm in and if a group decides to hit the Gap I'll adjust scheduling to accommodate. The eastern brethren can stop by the house for cold drinks and a small break prior to proceeding. This time of year the weather can be problematic. If you're south of I-40 you can be enjoying some fine riding conditions. This can lead to stupidity! You can load up your big twin, with wife and accessories, ride to Blowing Rock for a romantic weekend getaway, wake up in the AM with the world's most expensive popsicle in the parking lot -- been there, done that, hope I learned from it. Just let me know when you're close and we'll ride. G2 |

As of ~noon on Wednesday WRAL is calling for a high of 41 on Sunday, meaning Sunday AM will likely be in the 30s. I'd be up for the ride to Michael's, but my wife certainly won't be. If I'm going to get away from the wife on a Sunday morning I'll need advanced notice. Anyone else up for it? Mike L. |

If I go I'll be there around 10:30. I spoke to the wife about it, she's actually up for the ride despite the cold. I'm also trying to sign up one of the Ducati-riding techs from Ray Price. We'll see if we can't get a good crowd going. Mike L. |

Hey MikeL-count me in. I can't speak for Mike W. but I believe he would ride also. We live about an hour and a half south of you all. Can someone give me directions to Micheal's, from Pittsboro? The outlook right now looks like clear but cold. I can handle the cold, just not the wet and cold! So I do believe I'll be there. |

Wow, sounds like we'll have a good sized group going, considering the weather. Michael's Bar and Grill is located in a shopping center off of 15-501 in Chapel Hill. You probably won't see a sign for Michaels from 15-501 unless you know where it is, but the parking lot to Michaels is easily visible from 15-501 making the place easy to spot if there are a lot of bikes there. I *think* the shopping center is called Cole Park plaza. I know the shopping center is located at the intersection of 15-501 and Manns Chapel road. This link is the closest I could find for a map indicating exactly where Michaels is: http://mappoint.msn.com/(dbraqjfn2cokz355skfjp5mw)/map.aspx?L=USA&C=35.84686%2c-79.08419&A=7.16667&P=|35 .84686%2c-79.08419|1|Cole+Place+Rd%2c+Chapel+Hill%2c+NC+27517|L1| The link wasn't working for me in the preview screen, if it doesn't work when I post it just cut and paste it into your browser. Basically, Michaels is in the shopping center at the intersection of 15-501 and manns chapel road on the opposite side of 15-501 from manns chapel road. There is a seafood restaraunt in the parking lot with Michaels, but I can't remember the name of it. If you're coming from I-40 take 15-501 South through the "main" part of Chapel Hill. Start looking for the shopping center at the intersection of manns chapel road. When you get there, take a left into the parking lot and look for the bikes. If you're coming from 64/Pittsboro take 15-501 North towards Chapel Hill. When you get to the shopping center at the intersection of manns chapel road take a right into the parking lot and look for the bikes. If anyone wants to ride along with me, I'll be leaving from Calvary Chapel at 1600 Center street (10-10 road) in Apex with another friend around 10am. Hope to see you there. That did not make for a fun morning. I was headed out the door a little after 8am to be greeted by snow. I went back inside to check the weather, they said it would be clear today. I looked back outside, realized the snow was light and wasn't sticking at all, so I figured I'd take my chances. I thought it would quit and dry up. The ride started out dry with just a light dusting, but then it turned to heavy dusting and eventually became wet sleet stuff. I headed back home just before 10am feeling both cold and wet. The real kicker was that my wife and I ended up driving in the car to Michaels to meet my sister and her husband. When we got there around 11:30 the sun was shining and the roads were completely dry. Oh well, have to try again some other time. Mike L. |

I'd like to, but my wife and I are closing on our first house on Friday the 21st. We don't exactly have the whole weekend planned out but I'll likely be busy. On the other hand, Sunday the 23rd is my birthday, so if the weather turns out to be nice I'll just have to ride somewhere. Keep me posted. Mike Luddy, Jr. '04 XB12R |

As of ~9:30 this morning my wife and I (and the bank) are now owners of a new house! Now I have a garage for the XB, a yard for the dog, and a host of other house-related benefits. Mike Luddy, Jr. '04 XB12R |

Lightning, That's some good riding. Last summer I rode up to Boone then took hwy 58 in Va (awesome road), road the BRP, took other backroads, rode Skyline (speed limit SUCKS 35), rode to the Plant in YOrk, PA, then rode home on secondary roads through VA. Count me in. I recommend a route of mostly backroads as the BRP and SKyline are heavily patrolled and issue $500 tickets for aggravated speeding. |

WRAL is predicting a high of 60 on Sunday. Who's up for Michael's? If I can get out of doing house chores (enough with the window blinds!) for a while I should be able to make it. Mike Luddy, Jr. '04 XB12R |

I'm probably up for the ride. I'd be heading North from Southern Pines. If the route went South it would be great to be able to meet up along the way. What's the proposed route? Mike. |

To answer your questions, I much for riding in really cold or rainy weather. However when its about 50 degrees or higher, then I'll ride. I like riding when its cool because the engine runs stronger. We need to exchange some phone numbers so we can get together later. |
