Kevin, You are almost right where I grew up. I lived in Dalworthington Gardens until I left home. The parents are still there. There are some nice roads around Arlington. It too bad there are so many cops though. |

OK Texans, I got my flight schedule and on the 23rd I'm not going to get to Dallas until 6:30 pm. That pretty much rules Sunday out for me as I will have been up since about 3 am that morning, drove 300 miles to Appleton to get on my plane, been searched multiple times by airport security(happens every time, must be the ponytail)probably stuck on a plane with 10,000 screaming kids. By the time I would be able to get to the hotel and get my bike it's just going to be too late for me. How about Monday night, the 24th? I should be done with the dealer meeting stuff by about 5 or 6? I'm going to need someone to come to the Gaylord and lead me to wherever we are going to get together. I want some Texas BBQ! |

24th might work. Where are you staying? P.S. you want REAL BBQ or that chain store crud? If you want REAL, I can take you. The neighborhood sucks, the food is the best. (Message edited by court on December 24, 2004) |

The dealer meeting is at the Gaylord something or other in Grapevine TX. I want REAL BBQ! I can get Famous Dave's or Applebee's here. You coming to Texas too Court? My God, you,Blake and me in the same state, at the same time again. You going to have your bike? |

The meeting is at the Gaylord Texan which is in Grapevine, north of the airport...hardly, in my Crescent Court / Turtle Creek opinion, "Dallas". But...we may be on to something. I'll have to defer to the locals for BBQ in that area. My bet is the Foot Wuth has some good stuff! I hadn't made any plans, but I never rule out a trip to Texas. Court |

Hey Dave, Court, & Blake - Thanks for the early XMAS gift to the DFW gang! Ridin' with youse guys will be too fun - don't worry about the grub, there are LOTS of places for great BBQ in the area - you can't throw a dead cat and not hit one! (Sorry - bad metaphor...) Monday is good for me, and I'll bet most of us can get a "kitchen pass" for the evening. Y'all keep us apprised of your travel sit-chiation so we can strike up the band when you arrive. |

I'll be there whichever day is chosen, but I may not be on a bike. North Texas will have it two weeks of Winter weather and mid to late January is prime time for that. Would one of you guys local to the Grapevine area please find a good old local BBQ joint? Please. |

Allright Guys... Where's the best BarBQ place to take Dave and Blake to... I like Hammonds myself, but that's all the way in Glen Rose... Any Ideas??? Between Grapevine and Fort Worth leaves a lot of options... Kevin |

I’m back in connection with the Internet. Hope everyone had a great holiday. Kevin, I’m off of I-20 by Hulen Mall, actually the Trail Lake Dr. exit, probably less than 10 miles from you. All, I suggest we take Dave and Blake to The Railhead for BBQ on Hwy 121 and Glade Rd. This weather has been unbelievable, I went on several evening rides around downtown FW and the Stockyards. Saturday I took my girlfriend to Glen Rose for lunch. We rode through Godley, Granbury, Glen Rose and by Cleburne State Park. Have eaten at Hammonds several times, yes it’s good, but had Mexican food instead. |

Just a thought, if any of you Texans need anything I can put it in the trailer with the bikes and you can pick it up from me and save the shipping charges. Bikes Parts Whatever |

OK, lemme get this straight: >DaveS is gonna be in Dallas late this month. >There's a potential get-together the night of 1/24 somewhere in the DFW Metroplex area. >This might entail a meet-n-greet op with several BWB luminaries, not the least of which will be ol' yellow-helmet Blake hisownbadself. >BBQ and beer, it's siamese twin, might be consumed by the participants. >There might even be a ride involved, weather permitting, in the area. I may have to monitor this thread more closely. Baja Oklahoma is really not that far from Houston. If I'm not dumpster-diving in the Big Apple, I could (theoretically speaking) be there. rt |

I'm looking forward to meeting you face-to-face, Daves. I wish I could tell you to bring everything for the S>R conversion with you. But xmas and an engagement ring killed that prospect for another month or so. So it looks like I'll have to pay for shipping in the end. |

I will be there the 20th-26th. Looking forward to meeting a lot of you guys. I grew up in the south, so I'm not skeered of a shifty neighborhood to get good BBQ. Usually that's where the locals go to get the good stuff. I will also have a bike there. It might be my Springer, but I am hoping to bring a Buell, too. The owner of our dealership is a Kansas farmboy and might want to come with if that's alright with everyone. See ya in a couple of weeks. |

Hello all, I spoke with Michael the night manager at the Railhead Smokehouse. He said a Monday night would be no problem for a group. If we give him a call with a headcount he’ll have a table set for us. The Railhead Smokehouse is located at 5220 Hwy 121, Colleyville, TX 76034. Take the Hall Johnson Rd. exit if coming from Grapevine. Maybe someone with more computer savvy then I can link a map. Colleyville by no means is a shifty neighborhood but the original Railhead was on West Vickery and Horne St. in Fort Worth by the Trinity River and rail yard, thus the name “Railhead”. There still a FW location by the Will Rogers Equestrian Center, which reminds me, the FW Stock Show and Rodeo is in town that week. I have been looking at the roads around the Gaylord and it doesn’t look interesting. Has anyone ridden around that area? |

Cowtown, the Railhead sounds good to me. I believe I've heard of it but haven't eaten there. So if anyone doesn't have any other ideas... I'm not real familiar with the exact area but I'll look at my mapsco and I'm sure we can find a good ride, weather permitting... DaveS, as to riding gear: the weather today didn't get any higher than 32-35 degrees F, but saturday and sunday are suppposed to be in the mid to high 60's... I guess you're going to ship your gear with the bikes, so let us know approx when the truck will be leaving and we'll keep an eye on the weather and let you know what the local weather guessers are saying... The only bad thing about the weather when you're coming is if it's during the Fat Stock Show in Fort Worth, we have 'stock show weather' and during that kind of weather your'e either driving(not riding) or trying to stay warm and dry someplace... Hey fellas I'm new to the Badweather biker scene. I just purchased my buell 2 months ago. Love it so far but don't seem to be that many Buell owners to ride with in the Denton area. Any of yall make your way up here. Southern Oklahoma has some nice back roads that aren't crowded like the metroplex. If yall are plannin a get together dont rule out Sonny Bryants in Dallas at least one of those nights. |

Navy, I've been wanting to hit S. Ok. for some time now. I'm in downtown Dallas. Denton is cake to get to. What are your plans for Sunday? It's supposed to be nice. Chris? Are you game too? I'm sure you've fixed your rear tire by now. |

Yeah, it's fixed (replaced with a brand new Dunlop 207), and I promptly "dropped" the bike on the dealer's lot, damaging the left primary cover and shift linkage. Boy, did I feel stoopid. The back tire was VERY slick. So, I got a free back tire, but it cost me over $500 for the experience. And, it's not fixed yet - they were shut down for inventory over the holidays and haven't ordered my parts yet. Count me in for the BBQ & GTG, tho - I want to meet everyone! I'm praying for good weather for the ride even if I'm not riding! } |

That's horrible, Chris. I've read about that very same thing happening to several other bad webbers. So don't feel so bad. Did the bike slide at all? |

About 10-12 feet. It was weird - I turned ever-so-slightly left and was just starting to give it some gas, and it just rotated and laid down. I wasn't going even 10 mph. It continued to rotate as it was sliding, my left leg under the bike. I didn't get anymore than a bruised hip, and a bruised ego! It scraped the left handlebar endcap, but never touched the frame (whew!). It scratched the bottom of the swingarm about an inch, but it's not really gouged. Funny - my front & rear axle sliders came in the next day...I'd also ordered frame pucks and paint just prior, but I didn't think I'd actually need them this soon! |

The Railhead sound good to me - it's only a few miles from the Gaylord Texan (thanks for checking on this, Paul!). OK - here's the current list of DFW Buell Barbeque & Beer Bashers: Dave Blake Court Cameron (Clown) David (Dago) Paul (Cowtown) Kevin (-fromwebb) Chris (RPM-) Tom (Road_thing) and Patrick (Navygunner), why don't you plan on coming so we can meet you, too? Jared, have you gone back to school in Lubbock yet? If not, come on! I posted up on Sporttwin.com to see if Laura or any others there are interested.
