Youtube has a post of a Cycle World podcast as of today (12-5-2024) which is a discussion between Mark Hoyer and Kevin Cameron, about Buell American "sportbikes". A worthwhile watch (or listen), but for me it points up one of the errors in perception that has plagued Buell. IMO, the air-cooled bikes were not and are not sportbikes. They should rightly be compared to Brough Superiors, Vincents and the like - NOT - 90s metric superbikes. When they were introduced the media had to coin a new term for them - "hooligan" to describe their unique character. It was better than "American Sportbike'. |
