Sounds good! The wife is a little pissed (I told her I was going on Wednesday, that's her late night at work). The show starts at 7:10pm. We should try to leave here no later than 5:30pm. We will probably miss the first 10 minutes. According to Mapquest, it's 113 miles (1hr 49min). If Joe can get out of work earlier, we'll leave earlier. I'll buy the tickets on-line as soon as I hear that Joe is confirmed. Dennis |

Hey Lake I think driving down to Milwaukee is the best way to go. It is the most pitiful ride and seeing as the time we would get out I think that it would minimize the stress level. I think we all work the next day anyways. But I am really up for driving unless u convince me otherwise. Give me a gingle. Pale |

Greetings: Its been a while since I have posted here. With the school year cranking up again, I have been out of commission for a while. I think I'm having problems with my rear shock. The bike seems to bounce a lot after hitting bumps. First thought maybe an adjustment issue, but my shop manual only covers the original shock, not the recall version. Early in the summer I was surprised with a construction zone and bottomed the bike out. Add in to that a rough trip to the Rockies and it seems to equal bad shock. How much is new? What about used? Can this one be rebuilt? Also, the rear brake caliper has rattled since the day I purchased the bike. everything seems intact, but worn. Any recommendations or suggestions from you guys would be appreciated. With finances always tight, I am interested in the most cost effective way to get the bike healthy again. Thanks guys. Tom |

Tom...which recall shock do you have? I have a first edition recall (16" eye-to-eye). I don't want to sell it but I'd let you borrow until winter. |

Lake: Thanks, I will check it out tonight to see what it is. Any other thoughts? What are your thoughts about the rear brake caliper? |

Never heard of a rear brake caliper rattling. Did you ask in the Knowledge Vault? Are you sure it's the caliper? It's strange how sounds seem to come from one stop but are really from someplace completely different. |

Yes it is the caliper. The pins that it mounts to seem to be worn. It still brakes ok, but there is a lot of play in the caliper when not braking. |

I'm still confused Do you want me to stop by sometime tomorrow to look at it? I'm off tomorrow so I'll be out putting on some miles. My plan is to ride some of the northern Kettle Moraine. I could swing through the Appleton area on my way home. Do you still have my cell #? |

Tom -- check your pads, bud -- that could be the cause of the rattle |

Had a great ride last night! Only 6 of us showed up and Alfabs had to go home instead of on the ride. So only 5 of us on the ride to Cloverleaf Lake. Great road with some it brand new asphalt. Had a burger and then rode back thru New London to drop Comp. Todd off and then back to Appleton. Only had 2 deer come out in front of us but Geoff did a great job of spotting them in plenty of time and warning us. Thanks to everyone that went on the ride. Dave |

Lake I will be at work all day. However, I think I will be home in the evening. Give me a call sometime after 7 and I could talk it over with you. 989-3499 Bomber, I will check the pads. That sounds like a good start. Dave What does a new shock cost? Thanks |

Dave: Unfortunately, that is too pricey for the pocket book right now. I know that is a good price though. Lake: I appreciate the offer to borrow your extra shock, but I would feel terrible if something happened to it. I am seeking out a used one just to get me through the rest of the riding season. Thanks guys! Tom |

Pale, We are going to leave from the dealership at 4:30 SHARP, drive to Beloit(with a stop for mocha's in Madison). We'll get to the track about 8, get unloaded, get the bikes thru tech inspection, have a riders meetings and then start hitting the track at 9. Usually the order is Novice group, intermidiate group and then expert group. You will have 20 minutes on the track and then a 40 minute break while the other groups are doing their 20 minutes each. Bring water or pop and a cooler with ice if you have one. Dyna is bringing a grill so if you want to grill, bring some brats, burgers or whatever you want. Have your bike taped up the night before to save time in the morning. You need to tape your headlight, tail light and turn signals. Take your mirrors off or tape them. I always tape over my speedometer too. One less thing to distract you. I need to get you signed up too. I'll be back at work Tuesday and we can do it anytime this week. I have already told Sean you are coming, I just need the paperwork and $$. Dave |

This is my first time using one of these forum-things but I am a Buell rider and got the info on the Slimey-Crud Run this coming weekend. I am wondering if it is OK to bring friends along (one being a HOG member, the other being a Suzuki rider) and I was also wondering if maybe there were more details, such as routes taken, stops along the way, etc. Any info is much appreciated, Thanks. |

Voodoo, Sure, bring them along! This is going to be a "mixed" ride anyway. We will be leaving the shop in Appleton at 8:30 SHARP! Have a full tank of gas as we will not be stopping til we get to Madison. There we will stop at the Starbuck's on Monana Dr to meet up with riders from Milwaukee and Chicago. There is a gas station right across the street we can all fill up at. Then it will be off to Pine Bluff to meet up with riders from Iowa,Il and MN. This will be about a 350 miles day so come prepared for extra gas, food $$ and bring clothes for any weather, you never know what the weather will do to us on the crud run. Glad to see you found your way to Badweb! Ride to the edge! Dave daves@h-dappleton.com |

Who's going for sure? Which way are you coming in from? Want to meet up with other heading in from the same direction? Our plan is the same. Leave Appleton at 8:30 sharp, ride to the Starbucks in Madison on the south side, Monona Dr exit(about a block north on Monona, on your right hand side) we plan to be there at 10:30. We will leave at 11:00 to ride out to Pine Bluff, eta is 11:30-12:00 Probably hang out in Pine Bluff for 1 hour and then head to Leland. I will be packing some Buell product CDs for those of you that don't already have one and to hand out to the unsuspecting! So, one last time, who's going? Who's meeting us in Madison? Who's meeting us in Pine Bluff? Who's meeting us in Leland? Please go to the thread in the Quickboard to reply. PS There are still openings for the track day at Blackhawk on Monday the 4th. Call me if you're interested. Dave (Message edited by daves on September 28, 2004) |
