Sorry you won't make it, Prior. My wife and I got here yesterday. I've been out riding this morning; the weather is perfect for the time being and 226/226A and 80 are in great shape. I scouted a "new" road this morning that was a nice little ride but far too residential for really railing. Man, this is a great place to ride. | ||

Great I think? How is the Temps up there? 97 here in the low Country. Just trying to decide what clothing to bring. Will a leather jacket and T shirt be good for the cool mornings and still be light enough for the afternoon? looking forward to the twisties and fellow Buell owners. | ||

It's been 70's up to mid-80's in the day; low-to-mid 60's at night. You should be fine with jacket and t-shirt. I've worn mesh jacket all week and never been intolerably cool and I'm pretty cold-natured. (Message edited by Hughlysses on July 23, 2015) | ||

Whew! We arrived back home today about 3:20 PM and were completely unloaded (Uly and all) by 4 PM. Damn, lowcountry SC is H-O-T. Some highlight pics from BITA 5:  Polaris "Slingshot" in front of the Skyline. This guy worked for Polaris and was driving the (car? trike?) around the NC twisties and answering questions about it. It's an interesting vehicle.  } The usual amazing view from the balcony outside our 3rd floor room.  Pic from one of our longer rides last week up to Erwin, TN on NC 197. Here's Sifo's better half standing next to her Moto Guzzi, my Uly, and Sifo's XB12Ss.  Purpony's amazingly tricked out Buell X1.  Buells lined up in front of the Skyline on Saturday morning.  The 187 RWHP turbo'ed XB. Another piece of amazing two-wheeled art.  An Aprilia Tuono V-4 we saw at the pull off at the NC 80 (Buck Creek Road)/Blue Ridge Parkway intersection. This thing sounded amazing coming up the mountain.  My son-in-law "NiceguyTC" with his 1125R and my Uly Sunday morning on the BRP.  3 of the 4 Buells still at the Skyline this morning: Jadow's XB9Sx, Coldwind's XB12S, and my Uly. Sifo's XB12Ss was already loaded up for the LONG trip home and out of the picture.  In the background, you can just see a railroad tunnel between Spruce Pine, NC and the Blue Ridge Parkway. This is part of the old Clinchfield Railroad (now CSX) and is one of MANY tunnels in this area. The railroad curves and twists all along the mountains here to gain altitude going up from Marion, NC below through Spruce Pine, NC and on to Erwin, TN. Sitting on the balcony of the Skyline at night, we'd periodically here the trains for a minute or two as they snaked their way up or down just across the mountain from the hotel. | ||

the whole ohio crew made it home safe today! great times were had by all!!! those were some incredible roads... the diamond back, murder mountain run, on the way back we did the snake! can't wait for next year, thank you to hughlysses & the hotel owners for such an amazing time. see some of you at the west Virginia buell rally next month!! | ||

First timer, Had a great time! Loved the Diamond Back and my late favorite NC80! Had so much fun that I went up and down several times. Great place to stay, fantastic food with wonderful conversations. Thanks all for making this first time GREAT! | ||

I'm guessing I'm the last one home. Had a great time catching up with old friends. Made some new friends too. Finally met a few great online friends in person. Mark's X1 is really a bike that needs to be seen in person. He's done some great work on that bike. |
