Loni- not sure what time we are leaving yet, depends on what time I get off work. I am not sure if Mike will have a full day of work either. He has had week each day so far this week. YIPEE Kimberlie |

Mike and I made it home at 3:30. We got up at 6am and by 6:30 we were on our bikes and heading for the border. We stopped a total of 4 times for gas and once to get a quick bite of lunch (about 15 minutes) in Yakima and then just one more time to lay under a tree for a quick break at about Hood River for 10 minutes. I could have laid there all day and actually fallen asleep. We kept a really good pace and kept moving. No major incidents and home in one piece without a ticket. Mike is already sleeping in the recliner - he is so tired - ok we both are. my butt is so sore! Hope everyone else made it home safe. This year was most excellent, I enjoyed the accommodations, our lunch in the country still has my mouth watering and Saturday/Sunday night was a kick in the pants. Mike and Linda - we missed you guys this year, I hope your back on two wheels soon. Kimberlie (Message edited by kimberlie on September 06, 2004) |

I am home too. Bike seems beat up somehow. Gonna need some TLC. Thanks to Chuck for teaching me how to ride dirtbike. Next time I'd like to try it on a real dirtbike as the M2 didn't much like it. See, we took this really neat shortcut, and about 75 miles from the last gas stop we hit a gravel stretch. So it's turn around back to gas or go ahead 30 miles of gravel. Back-country, fire-road, mountain-goat gravel. Up one mountain and down another. The 30 miles ended at an improved gravel road that allowed for about 30 mph. Feeling confident with my new dirtbike skills, I came down a hill into a hairpin too fast and put the bike down on the right side. Scrapes mostly, but a big dent in the header. Bike was already popping and farting from an intake leak (how many times can you re-use an intake manifold rubber? 4 times on one weekend must have been the limit.) The dent only made the engine sound worse. I got so instead of doing any kind of engine braking, I'd just pull in the clutch and use the brakes. I was afraid one of those big pops would hole the cylinder. Sorry I lost the group at Twist. I just couldn't find your bikes. Rode thru town and back and gassed up, put some oil in, had a snack and said so long to Chuck. As my mentor, the great philosoper Bob has said, "Any adventure you survive becomes a lesson, grasshopper." I confess, I'm searching, master for the lesson. Is it, "as an adult, you choose your path, and whom to follow"? Or is it " happens"? Speak oh great one and enlighten me. Got home at 8PM. 1502 miles and a memorable Border Raid. |

Shotgun So sorry for leaving you out of the count. We were one block off the main street. And yes "grass hooper" when does one quit following?? LOL, you got to miss Galens flat tire episode! We all survived the rocks and dirt. Don't know if the bagger will ever be clean again. Or Duanes paint. Thats another story/I can now say I no how to ride in gravel, rocks, and DIRT. Deb |

Shotgun Good to hear you are OK. Hope the tractor decal was not injured on your enlightening adventure. My X1 has been in the shop with what appears to be an engine temp sensor fault (read S*&T itself) and a replacement has been fitted. Susie and the kids are loving our spring weather here in Sydney which is as hot as your mid summer weather I experienced in Forest Grove. I am expecting when summer hits to come home to find 3 puddles of melted human to greet me. We realise there is a demand for Ozy biker T shirts over there. If anyone is interested drop me an email and I'll see what i can do to put together a selection for ya. madgaz42@optusnet.com.au The American half of the house is in dire need of Bisquick (if thats how ya spell it) and some other kitchen staples. If ya know where i can get this stuff, and have shipped to Sydney, drop a message to the attached email addy. Keep up the rides and news folks. I regularly drop in to see what you are up to. MadGaz |

Yo Lo, Thanks for the visual stimulus. Looking forward to the rest of the pics when you post them at BCrider. I bet that BMW enjoyed the dirt roads, need to get me one of them things. Keep up the great work Lo, looking forward to riding with you again. Shotgun, Sorry to hear of your inadvertent low side. Or were you just testing the plowing characteristics of the Buell? Just cause you got the tractor pull sticker doesn't make you a tractor driver. Glad to hear you were able to ride the beast home. Was Loni talking trash on me? I bet she pushed her sporty thru the dirt section, or probably made Chris push it thru for her, lol. I plan on attending next years Border Raid just to defend my honor, or maybe to ride twisty roads way to fast and drink way too much beer, or maybe both. |

Spud, Chris and Loni didn't head south of the border with the rest of us. And Loni's too smart to have followed our route. They had the whole week off and were planning on riding where the weather looked best. Check your driveway, they could be pulling in any time. The only part damaged cuz of my fall was the header and some scratches to your old air breather. The rest was a result of really foul washboard roads. Like 6-8" bumps on 12" centers. Hell, I lost most of my fillings too! The road was so bad that the goats had given it up as a goat track and were wondering thru the adjoining woods. |

I posted a little story about our adventure on the Border Raid section. Spudman I would never talk trash about you! Someone did get a good picture of me Sunday night and it was with you in mind but I can't remember who took it! Was that you Shotgun or Lo? Someone post the pic so that Spudman knows I was thinking of him PLEASE! We almost made it to your place. If I would have had your # I would of called and maybe we would of stopped by. 1,912 miles on the road! My goal this year was to have 5,000 miles on the Sporty by the send of Sept and I have 88 miles to go to meet my goal! Spud, I don't push my bike, I ride it! Hey and the place where you broke down coming home from SPLASH 2003, it's still there. We stopped to put the rain gear on yesterday. Loni |

What?????? Loni's flipping me off? Looks more like your flinging a bugger at shotgun, now that wouldn't surprise me. Never realized that's what you were doing all these years, just thought it was arthritis. Glad to see you had a good time at my expense, it's the least I could do. Thanks Lo ... for another great pic, although it makes me jealous. Look at that sunset happening in the reflection of the windows. I can almost feel the warm breeze and smell the vodka shooters. Yep, gots to get my poop together for next year. |

Way to go Loni!!! Read your post in the border raid section. Your going to get your 5K in this summer, nice work! 1,912 in 6 days, that's 327 a day average. I bet your butt is sore, although your always a pain in the anyway. Was Chris on the S3T or his urban assault vehicle? Sounds like you guys came home through some of my old camping grounds. I grew up in Coeur d'Alene and would often make it north for a week or weekend in Canada, beautiful area. But you turned at Sandpoint to head towards Spokane, CDA and Moscow are due south from Sandpoint. We had a birthday party for my youngest son last Saturday, he turned 18, another reason I couldn't make Border raid, boo hoo. But while we had some extra hands around for the party, I made everyone help move the pool table to the slab in the back yard. You guys could have stopped in for a cool refreshment and a quick game. Although the last ¼ mile to my house is a uphill dirt/gravel road, not sure you can do it, ha ha. My M2 is down for a bit, rear bracket of V&H busted, some tractor hardware should fix it up. The clutch is getting toasted, 32Kish miles on it with lots of hooligan action. Hope it last till the snow files, then I'll fix it. Trixie's Blast is doing well, just need her to slow down from setting up the house and go for a ride. Maybe a loop around CDA lake is in order for this weekend. Take care everyone and enjoy the rest of this summer. |

What? Vacation? No Brag Meeting? No Brag Ride? Well what the heck....Hope you have a great time Shotgun. I have the Brag ride down for the 19th, and the meeting down for the 21st. Is this correct? Who out there will show for the ride? I need to know becuase this is a race day for Chris out in McMinnville. Don't know if we will be able to make the ride. Roc if you are out there please post, or anyone else from the Brag Group that may want to ride that day. The meeting is not a problem we will be there. Loni |

How many of you Nw'sters Stunt your bikes??? I ask because one of my hobbies is making movies and I have thought some time now about creating a short flick with the bikes. I suppose if I were to get off my arse and hit a BRAG ride or two it would be easy to get some footage but I suk! Anyway, I love to film/edit and was just wondering if a local sorta thing would appeal to any of you riders. I have made a bunch of videos for my other passions (Ford Broncos and Snowmobiles) This a link to snowmobile footage all shot by other ppl, I just stuck it all together. http://www.snowest.com/gallery/video/119.wmv Yes its homegrown but thats whats cool about it. So I'm just asking if there are any riders in the PNW that would like to help me put this together. I'm after more than stunts but ya got to have a little of everything. I can also take DV tapes and use them as well so if your to far away and want to share some footage I am oh so up for that...just a thought. |

I have plans for the 19th, not the ride, bummer. The XB is laid up due to a broken clutch cable, outlook not so good for any weekend ride. |
