Wanted to pop up and say, "Thanks" to Hugh. It was a great day on Saturday. I took a slightly longer ride home to Charlotte Saturday night and have to say that coming down the mountain on Roseboro Rd was, ummm, interesting. It's dirt and gravel until you get to the bottom of the mountain much like the road some of us took earlier that day to Wiseman's View. Hope to get to ride it with a group next year because Route 90 at the bottom was just about abandoned and twisty. Thanks Hugh |

^ Those wheels are pretty sweet. That bike had so many trick parts on it it was ridiculous. BTW- anyone who was out riding Saturday or Sunday and rode NC highway 80, aka "Buck Creek Road", aka "the Devil's Whip", check Blind Kenny's site to see if you were photographed: http://www.blindkenny.com/ It may take another day or two before the weekend's photos are posted. |

Here are a few more pics from BITA 5. Our ferocious guard dog Matti was busy most of the weekend:
The following pics are courtesy of Badwebber Barker. Gauges on the turbo XB:

Some of the guys went on a dirt/gravel excursion. This resulted in the shredding of at least one 1125R drive belt:
But the view of Linville Gorge was worth it:

"This resulted in the shredding of at least one 1125R drive belt:"... "Dirtbike Dennis" passed me on that gravelly, choppy road, less than a couple of minutes later, he was shearing the teeth off that belt... Along with a slightly premature skinning of my back tire! All's well that ends well- Hugh, thanks again so much for hooking me up with Mack over there in Marion, he re-shod my Triumph with a fairly decent used tire- to answer your quextion, yes, I made it back home just fine, had a glorious ride down the BRP to Maggie Valley, DRY this time, then high-tailed it home back through Newport, picked up TN 441, then Sevierville Pike... the closer I got to home, the hotter it got, and the faster I went! Gawd it was miserably hot on I40 and the rest of the way home after being on the blessedly cool BRP. The first cold beer, at home, was one of the best EVAAAR. Thanks again for your efforts putting BITA 5 on. |

It is so funny, You would think I am photo shy, missed the group photo and rode NC 80 early Sunday morning. So no Pics. I really was there. |

Those two BADASS Buells were nothing but eye candy... FANTASTIC fabrication and inventiveness in both cases. Had dinner with Jadow, real nice kid, 5X smarter and talented than I'll ever be. With a beautiful fandamily to boot! Good times all around. |

Jadow- at least I caught a pic of your bike under the shed. Very glad you made it up and very glad you enjoyed yourself. Hope to see you again next year. I was talking to Sifo Monday morning- one thing I'm going to try to do for next year is come up with suggested routes for people to ride. There are ENDLESS great roads in this area and lots of great short, medium, and long loops to make. I know people ride several hundred miles, come out Saturday morning, and say "OK, now what do we do?". I'll try to do a better job of handling that. Next year I plan on being able to point to a stack of pre-printed ride routes and say "pick one of those and go ride!". I also hope we're doing EBR demo's again next year! |

Jadow- somewhere here (above) there's mention of a dude (Blind Kenny) who photographs everyone riding NC80- I'd planned to ride down to the lake after the offroad adventure and go swimming to loosen up my shoulders and neck... had to go get a roadworthy rear tire instead. Look it up, there's prolly photo evidence you were at BITA 5! (Message edited by 86129squids on July 28, 2015) |

Hugh- I'd thought about running a route down to Lake Lure and Blowing Rock, stopping in Black Mountain either going down or back up depending on time... SO many cool places up and down that route. I'd done that highway back when Asheville hosted their last Honda Hoot before Knoxville got it, had fresh pavement back then... |

Thanks Squid. I like your future plans Hugh. There is that "get Lost adventure" ride, but being a first timer the maps help. picked up #4 map at the desk and had a blast Sunday morning. The older I get the more I like the short burst of excitement routes. Right now I can't explain the great MPG. I usually look for fuel at 100miles but could of gone 150 up there. |

I almost always get good mileage riding in the twisties. I figure it's a combination of (1) lean fueling at altitude (2) the long-stroke air cooled engine being efficient at WOT and (3) next-to-no fuel usage when going downhill. It's like having your cake and eating it too! |

Hugh, when you're ready to do some suggested routes next year, hit me up. I've got a few and can also scout any you might be thinking about. |

It was a pleasure meeting you all. I had a great time and finally got to experience what the fuss is all about on these roads!! This was my first time on these twisty southern roads, but surely will not be the last. Hope to make it next year as well. Had an issue with my TPS but finally got it straightened out and heading to the Dragon today. Thanks to those that gave me a hand and thanks to Hugh for putting this together.

Marc, glad to hear you got the bike running again. Was it just the sensor? Whatever it was, it's a shame to have a trip like that tainted by an uncooperative bike. Hope you have better luck at the Dragon. |

Tom, Yes- just the TPS. I now have a 1997 Ford Explorer V8 TPS on it... running great. Rode the Dragon twice on Wednesday around 4pm... only a couple bikes were out, it was great! Also did a lot of riding around the Crossville TN area, lots of great twisty country roads. Headed home tomorrow- |

Several people at the meet asked about T-shirts; I have one XXL if anyone's interested. $15 anywhere in the US including shipping. If anyone else wants a T-shirt; let me know. If I get enough people interested Kevin says he'll make more. Cyclonecharlie- I sent you an e-mail; I need your mailing address so I can send your T-shirts.
