I'm thinking of doing a "pre ride" to the crazy house on Friday out Rt 47.
I just want to make sure 47 doesn't have construction going on and such.

Finally going to make it again (not since 2012).
Looking forward to the ride up after meeting with M2NC and more Friday morning and headed up the fun way.
Headed out of Western NC Thursday lunch-ish time to Virginia before that.
Spent last night installing a radiator guard on the new bike, which is not something I ever had to think about on the Uly! |

Mark, it's been a while, hope all the stars align to let me say 100% on next weekend, will know in a couple of days. As much as I'm stoked about seeing all the crazies
(fireside, not at the museum ), riding, and such- what are your BBQ plans? Whole hog, brisket, fowl, tofu, or all of the above?
When my best buddy got married, he smoked half a hog- nothing better than standing over the smoker, and PULLING the meat...

I just pulled this little tidbit from the State Parks website:
Located in the north-western section of the state, North Bend is easily accessible from four-lane U.S. 50 which stretches across north central West Virginia from Parkersburg to Clarksburg. Driving east, take U.S. 50 to the junction of WV 31 (21 miles). Take WV 31 to Cairo and follow signs to the park. Driving west, take WV 16 to Harrisville and follow signs to the park. Consult your highway map for further details
NOTE:
Guests have reported that Map Quest and Google Map directions to North Bend are not accurate and gives directions that park staff would never recommend to guests. North Bend apologizes for negative experiences using Map Quest or Google Maps and encourages guests to take advantage of written directions on park websites. Directions provided on state park and forest web pages are always suggested as proper entrance roads to our areas. They are written by park or forest staff members. (02/10) |

WV 31 is crooked as dogs hind leg and the park road is VERY narrow.
If you are pulling a trailer, take Rt 16.
16 is pretty twisty but it wide enough.

Made it home, all good, took some amazing back roads, slabbed it only the last 50 miles.Everything held up perfectly- thank you so much everybody who jumped in fixing my broken front muffler strap. And HUGE thank you to Adrenaline _Junkie for coming back on Saturday with a strap and tools and getting me going again. The strap held up wonderfully thru some really rough roads (as did the rest of the bike.
It was my first ever Buell rally, and it will not be the last...It was awesome meeting everybody , and looking forward to doing more of these ...

For those who wanted to know about my head lights on the 1125R. Got them on ebay took 2 weeks to get. That's 30W and 4000 LM each bulb.

Thanks again to Mark and the Gainer clan for a(nother) truly memorable feast and event.
More firepit Jenga, more Gary vs. Vern fireside chats, more of other things that are likely best left un-posted. You know who you are...
It was cool to see that while the overall % of Buells went down (as many of us had to make other choices recently!), the number of tubers seemed to be up this year, and there were a lot of really sharp bikes there being ridden like they were meant to be. And even 1 lonely EBR. |
