That is a funny looking crotch rocket! I'll bet it thinks it is a dirt bike too! at times it has considered itself a dirtbike, stuntbike, racebike, unicycle, atv, supermoto, 4x4, boat, and now apparently sport tourer... lol |

^ And I'd imagine LSR bike, WSBK bike, etc. As suggested by a couple of Badwebbers in the thread on the Quickboard, I ordered some of those sticky backed nametags so we can identify each other at the meet: Pretty cool, eh? |

Sounds like our house/bike situation Hugh and Tim. Carlos put the carb back on the M2 last night. Weather was uncooperative, so hopefully a test ride tonight. |

BTW- Buell swap meet anyone? I'm thinking of trying to clean out some of my old Buell stash at the meet. I have some stickers I'll pass out as door prizes or something similar. I'll have a tall orange Uly seat and an unworn black Buell 1125 mechanic's shirt (size medium, but more like a small) for sale, along with any other obsolete/unneeded parts I can find. |

Let's hope we don't need any bubble wrap . Ironically he was the only one with a dry seat the next morning! Not such which made me more nervous, the Dragon or Wolf Pen Gap with the Suburban towing a trailer. Aerosmith helped me through the twisties. Thankful that Rainey was at TWO in that afternoon and unloaded the M2 and 1313's bike, mapped out my route and even offered to ride with me to get M2nc. Seems like Squids was at the dealership when they brought the Uly in. Thankfully he doesn't hold grudges, as I'm sure I wasn't pleasant when I met him that afternoon Then the ride back to TWO and the welcoming committee as we rolled in with a very sad looking Uly. It's truly days like that that make Buellers the best!

But seriously, I just got some parts in with that amount and type of bubble wrap!..... |

I found an on-line map of the loop from the hotel up into Tennessee and back, called the "Murder Mountain Run". With a few stops, it makes a good ~1/2 day ride: http://www.blueridgemotorcycling.com/ride-maps/mur der-mountain-run/ |

My favorite moment of that weekend was when someone looking over my wrecked Uly asked, "Did you bring any spare parts?" To which I replied, "Yep, a whole other bike." Rode the bike about 30 miles tonight, once by myself then out again with Ulywife. I would say the M2 is in the best shape it has been in since we bought it. We replaced just about anything that ends with seal, gasket or cable. As for the carburetor, if we learn from our mistakes, I should have a master degree by now. Just saying. The reward was riding Ulywife around our old haunts topped with a view out the mirrors of her stretching out her arms as we pulled to a stop sign in celebration. Anybody want to see an SX?
quote:Just wanted to let you know that I talked with Mike Thrift [owner of Skyline Village Inn] yesterday and he was very accommodating by letting us come up and set up a display on the 26th and 27th. I will be bringing up a new 1190RX and a new 1190SX. We are excited about showing these new bikes off to your group of Buell riders. There will be special pricing and special financing terms for anyone that visits the display over the weekend! Help me spread the word! Thanks for all your help! I wish I had purchased my 1190RX from Randy. I bought mine from a dealer in Louisiana on the way to the Dragon event end of April. I see Real Performance Motorsports making a real effort to get involved in the Buell community. He brought an RX to the Dragon event, hung out with us, and donated to a fund raiser for motorcyclists we do every year at the event. If I didn't live so far away, I would be at this event, too. |

One week to go ’til the fourth and by all indications biggest "Buells in the Alps” yet, with about 25 people signed up. Here’s a rough schedule for the weekend: FRIDAY: -People usually start showing up around noon. -Check in at Skyline and ride twisties. -Meet for supper at Skyline around 6 PM. SATURDAY: -Pegs down around 9 AM, start riding twisties! -If you have any excess Buell parts or gear you want to get rid of, bring ‘em up. Informal swap meet. -Check out the latest EBR motorcycles at the hotel (see below) -Meet for lunch around 11:30 AM at the Swiss Cafe and General Store in Little Switzerland, ~3 miles west of hotel on NC226A. Get there early because the place fills up with tourists on Saturdays. -Ride more twisties. -Meet for supper around 6 PM at Skyline; location to be determined. SUNDAY: -Pegs down around 9 AM. -Check out the latest EBR motorcycles at the hotel (see below). -Ride as long as you can, depart when you have to. I got this big news yesterday: "Just wanted to let you know that I talked with Mike Thrift [owner of Skyline Village Inn] yesterday and he was very accommodating by letting us come up and set up a display on the 26th and 27th. Randy Real Performance Motorsports (EBR Dealer) Greenville, SC" The weather forecast is looking good for next weekend, with highs in the 70’s and lows around 60 (better bring your jacket liner), and (hopefully) a low chance of rain! My wife and I are headed up Sunday July 20th and staying the whole week. I’ll post updates to Badweb. See you in one week…. Your Head Meet Instigator, Hughlysses (Hugh Odom) Summerville, SC |

I've gotta get there! Those of you not familiar w/ these roads or have never visited this area are in for a real treat. I must emphasize "RIDE YOUR OWN RIDE" do not get suckered unto trying keep up w/ the person in front of you that is familiar w/ the area and or roads. Some of these roads can bite you in the ass if not careful. You just can't go wrong with any of the roads in this area!! |

Hey All, Getting my response in a bit late, but i'll be coming. Can't wait to meet everyone, get some good riding in, and take part in the festivities. I waited too long to get a room at the hotel, but just did a reservation at the Bear Den campground for my trailer. If anyone else still needs a place, let me know. I'm flying solo with a 5th wheel trailer so I've got some room. Just shoot me a PM. In the same regards, means I'll have my truck as well and will bring the ramps in the uneventful case someone needs a tow . Not sure if anyone is keeping a list of recovery assets. Anyway, I'll be getting up there on Friday and leaving out Monday. Can't wait Alan

Hi Everyone, Myself and another Uly rider are thinking of dropping in on your event. A couple of questions. How is the traffic down there this time of year I have heard the area is loaded with RV's and minivans (I am guessing it is not too bad or you all would have changed the dates)? Are there camp sites nearby? We are only trying to get it together now, so I expect hotels to be full. Thanks, Jeff |

Devo, I'll be staying at the Bear Den Campground about 7 miles up the Blue Ridge Parkway from Skyline Village Inn. http://bear-den.com. I haven't stayed there before, but Hughlysses had it listed as an option in the original post of this thread so I went with it. They still had some sites available as of two days ago when I made my reservation. I can't comment on the weekend traffic as I've only been up during the week and didn't think it was bad at all. Jeff- traffic is not that bad from what I have seen; certainly not as bad as it gets in the fall when the leaves change. Usually the best twisty roads in the area are avoided by drivers, so that helps the situation. Bear Den is the closest camp ground I'm aware of. Buck Creek Campground is about 12 miles away down the mountain: http://www.buckcreekcampground.com/ (BTW- it's on NC Highway 80, which is one of the best twisty roads anywhere.) If you would rather not camp, it wouldn't hurt to check with Mike at Skyline just in case there are any cancellations. If that doesn't work out, there are several other hotels nearby; here are a couple: Big Lynn Lodge (~3 miles away): http://www.biglynnlodge.com/ Diamondback Lodge (~5 miles away) motorcycle specific section of the Switzerland Inn): http://www.diamondbacknc.com/ Switzerland Inn is in the same location as Diamondback, but it's likely pretty pricey. There are also several motels in nearby Spruce Pine, NC- google for listings. I hope you guys can make it. |
