I haven't been on a Buell venture in a while. I am getting kind of excited even. I love riding in the area of the BRP where even an off ramp is an exciting ride, and a hot summer day is always cooled by beautiful shade trees or high altitudes. |

Here's another interesting road I explored last year after the group left; NC 197 south of Burnsville, NC, which is about 20 miles from the Skyline Village Inn. This road actually turns to dirt just south of the extreme twisties you see below, then about 5 miles later it turns back to pavement and goes on to the Ashville area. I turned around when I got to dirt but it might be a fun road to explore.

Hugh...when will you be arriving in LS? We hope to be in Banner Elk by 1ish and unload and head down to LS for an afternoon ride and then back to the cabin for dinner and porch time. I think I remember you saying kick stands up around 9ish on Saturday with a plan for lunch? |

Kristi- Marianne and I are actually going up the Sunday before and spending the whole week. Come on by! The schedule for the weekend typically goes something like this: Friday: People start rolling in around noon. Ride as much as you want, meet for supper around 6 PM. We usually eat at the hotel (Skyline Village Inn) on Friday night. Menu varies from year to year. Last year it was a little limited but decent. They have a full bar with excellent local craft beers on tap. You can even eat outside on the deck if it's not too hot. Saturday day: Breakfast available at hotel (last year it was scrambled eggs, bacon, waffles, coffee and juice for ~$7; no variations). Kickstands up around 9 AM; ride where and as much as you want. Meet for lunch around 11:30 at the Switzerland Cafe & General Store ~3 miles from hotel. They have extra seating upstairs if we get a big crowd (which it looks like we will). Very good food there. More riding after. Saturday night: Meet for supper around 6 PM. Depending on mood and weather, eat at hotel, Mountain View Restaurant just across from hotel is very good, or Dry County Brewing in Spruce Pine (6 miles away) has excellent pizza and their own craft beers. Sunday: No organization, ride as late you as you want, leave when you need to. Riding- Here are a few ideas: -Easy loop is 226A/226, aka "the Diamondback", beginning at the hotel parking lot. 16.5 miles total. Going either direction is a good ride. -Take 226 or 226A down the mountain to 221 south, take a right at Tom's Creek Road, hit NC 80, Buck Creek Road, aka "The Devil's Whip", turn right. Best road in the area (maybe in all of NC) IF you don't get stuck behind a cage. Turn north on the BRP when you get to it (there's a parking area at the intersection if you need a break). Go ~15 miles north on BRP, exit at 226, head ~1/4 mile on 226 back to the hotel. 36 miles total. -Long loop: follow 226 up into Tennessee (all the freaking road numbers change at the state line BTW), work your way east to the town of Roan Mountain, TN, head south on TN 143/NC 261 then NC 226 back to Spruce Pine and back to hotel. Nice route with lots of twisties, several places to stop and great scenery. IIRC this is about a 100 mile loop, maybe a little more. -There's no shortage of good roads in the area; feel free to explore. (Message edited by Hughlysses on July 07, 2014) |

Sounds good. I think we'll be back at our cabin for dinner and then drinks on the porch. We we certainly be joining everyone for riding Friday and Saturday and lunch on Saturday. Looking forward to seeing everyone again. It's been way too long for us. |

My son and I will be riding up early Saturday morning, will get there in time for lunch and riding in the afternoon. We've got room 307, staying Saturday night for general festivities, we can ogle the brand new Ninja 300 if you're into that sort of thing. Some riding Sunday morning, and then homeward in the afternoon. (Message edited by pwnzor on July 07, 2014) |

Now, the dealer is dicking around with my son's bike. They have it, they don't have it, it was reserved, now it's not... Who knows. I'm coming for sure, maybe a coworker as well on his CB1100XX Super Blackbird. I'll keep you all posted. |

Now, the dealer is dicking around with my son's bike. They have it, they don't have it, it was reserved, now it's not... Who knows. Man, I bet your son is royally PO'ed. That's got to suck to be all geared up for your first new bike and then the dealer screws around like that. Hey, maybe RPM will have the scoop on when that slick EBR-designed Hero 250 is coming to the US and will convince him to wait on that.

By popular demand, I've added a second color combination choice for the T-shirts: white on black: Go to this link to order: http://www.customink.com/signup/8rxp34us If you like the black on gray better: Go to this link to order: http://www.customink.com/signup/8f2bk2fj If you already ordered and want to change, I believe you can cancel one order and re-order the other, or just PM me and let me know and I'll take care of it. |

To everybody that ordered T-shirts, apparently I ordered enough T-shirts to get a price discount. I'll give everybody a refund when I give out the T-shirts at the meet. It should be about $5/shirt. |
