Bcord... They are about six miles west of Prescott on Hwy 89. In between Prescott and Wilhoit. Yes, they are VERY fun. If you were trying to make time you would be running second gear about 80% of it with a couple blasts up to ~105 on a couple straights. I don't tend to ride them like that very often at all. I usually stick it in third and leave it there unless I need to pass a cage. LOTS of 25mph corners and a few 15's. The speed limit is 35. The pavement is good, only three corners that have any bumps. One or two cattle guards but they're in good places. Cars generally pull over and let bikes around. I've only found police at one spot. They generally let the bikes do what they want, but I'm sure that's because no one has been hurt out there in a while. The Buells are VERY much in their element on the spars. I had two yamkawisukonda's go by me the other day and as soon as they did I they hit their brakes. I watched them turn around in the mirror and never saw them again. |

Good ride today . Met up with James at the appointed time and place. We arn the spars three times and did the whole Prescott/Skull Valley/Kirkland/Wilhoit/Prescott circle. We only say 5-0 when we were parked. It was a good day . I got rid of a little more of my front chicken strip (there's already none on the back, so I figure I should start working on the front ), and had a blast. We saw a Blue 9R and a Yellow 9s sitting on whiskey row as well. Don't know who they were though. Anyone from here? |

Hey guys... My Brother in law wants to learn to ride. Just found out tonight. He'd like to start on a Blast so if anyone knows of any killer deals, cue me in. He already plans to take an approved course and wear gear so that's covered; just need to get him some skill in the seat so he can move on up! Let me know please... Also, please clarify for me, those of you going to the BBQ. Is everyone leaving on Saturday and staying the weekend, or riding up Sunday morning? Kinda need to know this if we are going to plan meeting places, whether they be here in AZ or there... |

Charlie, have you checked with Jim's, they might have a Blast sitting in the back, used. Never know, they might give him a decent deal. If not then, for a Blast, yeah the Phoenix area, or maybe the San Diego area. Wonder if this one is still available: Blast posted by Kaveman. |

I'll be leaving some time Saturday. I'll take I-10 to 78 to Vista. I still need to clarify the exact location but that's my plan so far... You are all meeting somewhere near Kearney H-D for the morning ride? If so, I could meet you at whatever hotel is chosen. I was considering just leaving early Sunday, but only if my tire doesn't come in before Friday. |

Grr, scratch that... Kearney H-D (as long as I found the right one) is quite a ways south of 78. I think I may just head over to Vista, but I don't want to leave my bike alone Saturday night... Hmmm... decisions, decisions... I may just ride over on Sunday and stay Sunday night. Are all the AZ Buellers going to make the 9AM Kearney ride into Vista Sunday morning or are there other plans as well? |

I've looked at the maps and it looks like it makes more sense for me to ride over there Sunday morning and meet you all at American Sport Bike. It looks like Kearney H-D is quite a ways south of Vista. It's pretty much right on the way for whoever takes I-8, but an extra couple hours for anyone taking I-10. I think maybe I'll get my share of good roads from 78 anyway. I'm thinking if I leave here at 7AM I should be able to make American Sport Bike by 2:00. At that point I'll hook up with you guys. Soooo, anyone need a room mate for Sunday night? |

Ok, sorry to add to the cornfusion. My plan is to leave on Saturday. If others are leaving on Saturday, we could meet in Julian (a small mountain town on the 78... Then ride on to Ramona and on into SD Vista area together. If you get on the 67 to Poway, (I miss Poway)instead of continuing on the 78, you won't be going out of your way. Just have to stay down south for the ride in the morning... San Diego's a much better place to spend the night anyway, the most beautful city on earth! I'm going to stay in SD, I was stationed there so for those who don't know, Vista is only like 15-20 min up the freeway on a motorcycle. The I-15 moves. If you're not doing 80 you'll get run over. My wife and I go 85-90. Not far at all, really. Besides, I'm looking forward to the scenic route the BRAGG group has planned. I bet Palomar Mtn is involved! San Diego HD has two locations, one downtown, one on Kearney Mesa. Hope that clears up some more cornfusion. Anyway, thats my plan, I'm up for changes, or maybe we can meet along my route. I'm up for whatever. I just know I enjoy riding with you all and would like to see you on a ride, not just the BBQ. So who's with me? (Message edited by charlieboy6649 on August 23, 2004) |

Ok, Vista is up where San Marcos is at the top left corner of the Map. See where the large grey area is. That's MCAS Miramar. The Kearney Mesa location of San Diego Harley is just South of the base. If we take Julian to Ramona to Poway, we'll be right there... Was 15 min or less from my front door in Poway to the base when I was stationed there. |

OK, I've looked at the maps and here I am so far... Prescott - Take 89 SW Take a right on 71 take a right on 60 take a right on I-10 Long straight road... Take a left on 111. This is well inside CA and past 78. Take a left on 74 Take a left on 371 Take a right on 79 take a left on I-15 Take a right on Gopher Canyon Rd Take a left on E. Vista Way. I'll just need directions from Al from there or I'll find those via yahoo, either way. Here is a map of how I'll most likely be gettin from I-10 to Vista.

Alright, now that I've got my last ditch effort mapped out... What time do you figure you guys may get to Julian? If we all stay in SD, where will we stay, and how will we secure the bikes (I don't have a lock for mine as I don't generally need one up here...). |

Charlie, I would assume Escondido is a lot like Temecula (which I am familiar with)and should be a safe place to get a room. Let me know your thoughts? Is Poway a good place to get a room? I know there are some good roads east of Temecula, Thats where that last brag event rode out of for the first leg of that long Califorina event they had. I can't stay with my friends in Temecula this trip, so Escondido sounds like a good central location for all events. If there are no planned Sat rides then were on our own to ride anywhere in that area. Maybe repeat 2-4 hours of the bragg route? M1, we need to confirm with Jim, but should have a spot on the floor? I'll start a room search after I hear from everyone tonight if possible. |

Bill, Exactly what Wycked said... My honey XB9gRl, from Poway, says there's a Motel 6 at 78 and College. This borders Oceanside/Vista. Eliz and I will be staying with friends in North Park (San Diego), we promised them we'd spend Saturday with them, so, we'll see you guys at the run Sun morning, or at American Sport Bike. My cell is 928-210-4518. Give a call if you like when you get there... |

I'd like to... Where can we meet and when? So, we ride around Saturday evening and find a place to stay Saturday night, what about bike security? I don't think I would get a wink of sleep if my bike wasn't behind a lock and a key or at least pretty safe. What type of trailer do you have Bill? Would it fit three bikes overnight? If so we could probably maneuver the truck/trailer around to make it very difficult for thieves to get to. |

Woof! We could seriously make a day of that! Al was in for runnin' up to the Salt, I can't see why he wouldn't want to continue all the way. We could run like we did to Springerville, head south down the 191 to Safford, back up I-10 to Tucson....I dunno, but I'm up for trying. |

You guys are talking about a LONG day of riding... I've done the ride in one day, it takes almost 12 hours to complete the whole loop, and come back home. Think twice before you jump, grasshopper... |

JWZ and Bill/whoever's coming through/by Yuma on Saturday, just let me know when you'd be coming through... I'd love to ride with you all! Really all I've been looking for all along is who's coming through and what time so I could be ready... Wycked, I never said North Park is nicer, just that that's where I'd be. Besides, there are nice parts, as long as your not close to Balboa. It's better as you get closer to the I-805/15. |

DANG! Maybe I'm a little over zealous eh master? Since you ARE the master-of-all-rides-cross-country, I will listen to you...forgive me for my ignorance.(Yeah, I bet that's close to an 800 mile loop!) The run up to Salt still sounds like a winner to me. (Fine....call me a wuss.) |

wish I could go with ya, my friend. the best I can do at the moment is drive the chase truck. I still can't ride, (or drink) Life really sux sometimes. "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "...holy crap...what a ride!" } |

Hang tough my friend, it too shall return. Just think of how I felt looking at all of you at Springerville and tasting the road in my mouth and not being able to enjoy it. Remember that which doesn't kill you...pisses you off Charlie, stop in at Kensington Coffee Company for me and pick up a bag of Dragon Pearls tea |
