Glad you found a place Lucas. I figure we'll eat supper at the Skyline Village Inn restaurant Friday night about 6 PM. They have a nice deck outside (provided the weather holds) with a great view off the mountain. We'll probably hang out there for a good while so if you're a little late it won't be a problem. If you don't make up until Saturday, let's eat lunch in Little Switzerland at the Switzerland Cafe and General Store. They have a pretty big seating area upstairs; we ate there at the first BITA meet and that was a pretty good location. Saturday night, we can either eat at the hotel again, there's the Mountain View Restaurant just across 226A from the hotel (pretty much within walking distance), or eat at the Pizza Shop and Dry County Brewing Company in Spruce Pine (we ate there one night last year and it was great). |

I imagine most guys will be close to the hotel Friday afternoon (226/226A loop and the Blue Ridge Parkway). We can make plans Friday night for any group riding anyone wants to do. The hotel has free maps for one good loop up into Tennessee and back, and there are plenty of good roads in the area. BTW- the Blue Ridge Parkway is CLOSED from mile marker 375 to mile marker 355 which is a few miles south of the hotel. If you're coming that way, you'll have to find a detour. |

Do we have a head count on who is going? I will be there, but not staying. I have a place to stay 140 miles up the BRP to stay, so will be there either on the way up on Friday or on Saturday. |

Carlos- I don't have a firm head count, but here are the people that have indicated they're gonna show up: Hughlysses Bosgarage57 Rcontroler Buelltours Barker Twig Tailspining Etennuly M2nc Whatever was planning to come if she can find a roommate to split a room or a cheap camping spot. We almost always get several "unannounced" attendees, including some Badwebbers that live fairly close by. I'm guessing we'll have at least 10 or 12 Badwebbers plus a few girlfriends/spouses. |

I was just looking through the original BITA thread from 2 years ago; we had 13 Buells at the Switzerland General Store and Cafe for lunch: Maybe we can beat that this year! |

I think several of us will be rolling in around the middle of the day on Friday; I figure about 1 PM for me. Plans are to ride twisties (probably 226/226A loop and maybe over to Buck Creek Road/Highway 80). The hotel owner (Mike) is a real nice guy; if you get there and can't find anybody, leave word and I'm sure he'll tell us so we'll know you're around. Meet for supper at the hotel around 6 PM. |

Skyline is actually a pretty cool place to hang, even if you're not staying there. They have a store with an excellent beer selection, a restaurant, a deck, and an overlook off the side of the mountain. Owner Mike is always happy to give a tour and tell the very interesting history of the place. I was just looking at some nearby roads, here's a closeup of a section of a road I'm gonna HAVE to ride this time:
This is 197 south of Burnsville, NC, which is about 20 miles from the hotel. There looks like a good solid 10 miles of twisties on this road. |

Hugh, I'm planning on leaving in the am from Taylors. Every time I say I'm coming something happens. So I've been quiet until now.Probably just for Friday, maybe Saturday depending on how I'm feeling and if I can find a room. Hope to be there by 1pm |

8 Buells on-site today. Had a nice lunch and a decent ride. Unfortunately NCDOT ruined 261A with tar snakes (apparently in preparation for re-paving), but there are plenty of other good roads to ride. Looking forward to trying some "new" ones tomorrow. |

BITA 3, day 2- looks like it's gonna be a rainy one. It rained here much of the night and weatherman's calling for rain today. I think we'll get a little riding in despite the rain but I don't think there'll be any knee-dragging today. |

All of that riding was in NC- we headed west then south, which apparently let us skirt all the rain. Henry, Mike, and Don headed home this morning. My wife headed home in the truck about 10. I just got back from ~150 miles of solo riding. I checked out NC 197 as far the gravel section; those zig-zags in the photo above are ~1/4 mile before the gravel section and those are ~5 MPH curves! I would have ridden the whole thing but I was a little leary of having an issue or cutting a tire on the gravel section by myself. It's a GOOD road. From there, I took 19E back to 80 and took 80 all the way over the Parkway down to 70. I found Old Fort Road and took it down to 9, took 9 to Black Mountain, then turned around and came back as far as the Parkway, and took the Parkway most of the way back to the hotel. Looks like I'm the hotel's only guest tonight; I guess I'm in for a quiet night. |
