I met the owner... he was one strange cat.
He had some guy who builds drag bikes do his engine, he said it revs to 10k, and can sustain 9k+ revs. It sounded REALLY nice at 8.5k.
It was a nice looking bike, that is for sure.

Right you are! I talked with the 'strange cat' who owns the purple S2 as I have a slight 'history' with the bike. I first saw that S2 at a bike show in downtown Milwaukee in the winter of 1995, and have pictures (you know the old, printed film type) of the bike from the show. I also have a magazine (American Rider, Oct. 1995) that has a feature article on the bike when it was owned by the guy who originally put it together - Joe Houpt of Subruban Motors H-D/Buell in Thiensville, WI. I asked the current owner (Randall) if he had an E-mail address so I could scan the stuff and send it to him and he said he didn't know anything 'bout dem computers. I do have his mailing address though... Oh yeah, now get this. He said he bought the bike on A1A in Daytona a few years back for only $3,000! FWIW, Randall did say that he has had the motor apart a couple of times but that whoever originally built it knew what they were doing.
